Using burnt wood is GENIUS! I like drawing cartoon characters which use a lot of black and I'm always running out of black chalk and I have to buy an entire new set just for one black chalk piece.

Could you use a hardware store dry paintbrush for blending? Seems like it would be a little easier on your hands than blending with your hands. 🌈

Yeah, I saw a video where you could use a paintbrush to blend, don’t recommend using your hands

I usually use some gloves for blending so it saves my hands.

This is a great video, but I would suggest using a garden glove for your hand. That sidewalk will tear up your skin.

Corn starch and black food coloring with a chalk brush from Hobby Lobby or Amazon.

I had chalks at home that I bought last year! I searched “what can we use chalks for” anther than drawing on ground! And I found this video! I love drawing and now I have a motivation :D I was going to go for a walk this evening anyway ^w^

I'm an elementary art teacher and this was for my students (some of whom are six) so sounds like we're right on track. I'm glad you want to make a difference with your art. Go for it!

This sounds like hating to me🙄 Chalk art is an interesting medium, it doesn't have to be for you but don't demean those that participate in it. Look at the girl that's been noticed by Disney's artists for her chalk art. She's thriving and inspired lots of people.
