After watching many tutorials on color grading I’ve determined it’s basically just an overpowered Hue/Saturation slider, no matter the LUTs used any adjustment to a wheel will always wash the entire image in one overwhelming color. It’s leagues easier to just film the shot with the proper settings than spend hours on a color slider.

I mean sure, but you're gonna be quite limited on your results. If you're experiencing the fact that it's all giving washed out with one color you might wanna do a little bit of research on color theory. Other than that, yeah, you can shoot. All in camera and just go and raw dog. It like that you're just gonna be creatively limited. To what your camera can produce in camera.

I think you think this because you’re filming in 8 bit 709. Yes, if you’re crushing your dynamic range and colors, or your camera is very basic and can’t even shoot 8 bit log, then, yeah. Color grading is pretty much only for real cameras. Only IPhone JUST started letting you shoot in log

00:18 🎥 The video discusses the color grading process in DaVinci Resolve for beginners. 01:12 🌈 Setting the color management in DaVinci Resolve to the appropriate color space and output is crucial. 01:54 🖥 Use Mac display color profiles for viewers to ensure consistency between editing and final export colors. 02:21 🎨 Adding nodes and using LUTs can help adjust the initial color space and improve exposure. 03:17 ⚙ Adjusting settings like white balance, contrast, and color tones can enhance the overall image. 05:08 📊 Fine-tuning settings for highlights, mid-tones, and shadows can improve image quality. 07:01 ✨ Adding effects like sharpness and glow can enhance the visual appeal of the video. 08:44 🌅 Adjusting the color balance and highlights can create a unique look for the video. 11:19 🖼 Adding a vignette can focus attention on the subject and balance the lighting. 12:57 🌟 Using noise reduction techniques can help clean up the image while preserving details.

Thank you for the tutorial! 2 questions: what would have happened, if you put everything in 1 node and how can a beginner fasten the process?
@MarcTaraz
@MarcTaraz 3 ай бұрын
Just like layers in photoshop, you CAN put everything on one node if you so wish, but if you want to change any aspect of your grade after the fact or just 1 specific parameter, its a lot easier and nicer and more organized to do it on separate nodes. If you do everything on 1 node and one to change something, it could possibly change the entire grade and force to you to start from scratch, vs having things on different nodes that you can polar with constantly without making DRASTIC changes that you might regret. If you want a great one node tutorial, check out my most recent film look creator tutorial for the newest DaVinci resolve version!

You normally use nodes to separate processes, so you first expose the image and stop touching that node so that in the case you mess up you don’t have to undo all the work you made. So basically you separate steps between nodes to “save” your progress.

hey! how do you know where to put the node on the chain? like, in the begging of the video you added a node the middle of the two first nodes. Why? And at the end, you decided to put the node for noise reduction before every node you already had created... How do you make those kinds of decisions? Thanks

Thanks for this video! Very informative :) I've tried learning Davinci the last few days. Main issue I face is that when I use the selector to choose an area I want to change colors or change luminosity, once I touch it, the image becomes super "glitchy" when playing the video, like the software is not strong enough to compute all the images and doing the job properly. Any idea how to fix that? Thanks :)

Wait... using an A7S III and you're having problems with the noise? What ISO did you shoot at? That camera with the 12 megapixel sensor should have alleviated your worry for noise reduction. Unless you were shooting at an ISO too high.
@MarcTaraz
@MarcTaraz 2 ай бұрын
Noise is present because of lack of available light. When youre running and gunning solo shooting at night with no consistent lighting, there is going to be noise without a light source. The a7siii is absolutely incredible, but also because its only 12 megapixels, noise is a bit more obvious compared to an a7iv for example with its 7k oversample. The noise is absolutely fine, I just want it to be as clean as possible because why not improve your footage to the max? And secondly this is a tutorial. Just because I don’t necessarily need it doesnt mean other people may not. It’s a useful thing to know about when you need it. Hope that helps!
