I never set out to make a “dark” record.
It just sort of happened. Over the past two years, I wrote about whatever I was feeling at the time, and certain themes naturally emerged.
While I’ve endured more than my fair share of challenges recently, I assure you this isn’t some thinly disguised cry for help! I’ve always been fascinated with bleak subject matter. The older I get, the more eager I am to explore the shadowy depths of the human spirit.
Rest assured, it’s not all death and decay. There’s plenty of optimism to balance things out. In fact, the set kicks off with what might be my most hopeful song yet.
Is it my best album? Quite possibly. It’s certainly the best sounding! It’s also noteworthy because, for the first time, I did all the design and layout myself.

Now you have us who were really there in the early to mid 80's finding you---we who were eschewing American radio music in favor of our DJ-made tapes and import bin records of new wave that we had to find on our own, with no internet, only import magazines from the UK. It was not easy to hear synth pop then if you were not in New York or LA. In Detroit we had 2 short-lived new wave radio stations, thankful at least for that. Most of the time the DJ did not ID the bands, so we had tapes with songs, not band names. These days you get to know what an artist had for breakfast the same day! It was hard work to be a new wave person then, and I have no regrets. I was always drug-free (unlike most people in that world) so I remember it all. We were young, broke and made our clothes from second hand stuff. We sprang for a cool haircut sometimes and maintained it outselves, putting shaving cream, sugar water or cheap gel and spray in it. Most people were fluffy and preppy and 'normal' then and scowled at us. But we knew we were special, holding up our corner of our music-influenced mosaic. Wish I could tell you it was easy being 20 in 1983 but it wasn't. I graduated high school in 1981 and the baby boomers had all the jobs. And there were not the opportunities there are now. We were inspired by entrepreneurs but mobility was scary and you literally had to up and move with your heart in your throat to seek something new, no contacts, no place to live, nothing. What Madonna did was very common. We learned to land on our feet and hide our resentment of these gatekeepers of the jobs. Yes, we were the first to resent the boomers. Get in line! Our generation had no name until recently- Generation Jones. We are the grandkids of men that came home from World War 2 early and started having their families a few years before the grandparents of Gen X. And we are not like the boomers at all. Your music sounds like Martin, Howard Jones, Alphaville, and a few dozen other frosty, detached-sounding vampire styled new wavers. Great job!

I think "She's Made of Wires" and "Cakewalk" are my favorites. Edit 2: Dude, every song on this album becomes the best song on the album depending on the moment.

What I love is that your voice is distinct. I hear a lot of new synth wave retro 80s style music and the voices sound too much alike and too perfect. Yours is so unique and distinct, no one sounds like you, which is something I loved about 80s music! Everyone sounded different and unique 😊

Music speaks to us all differently. When I hear to the song "Crystal", it reminds me of how I would imagine existence after death or before birth. Like one eternal conscious field, even if the lyrics have nothing to do with the subject. Very nice work- I've never heard anything like this album before.

WOW! How do you keep banging out these albums! I knew it was going to be special when Crystal was the lead track. Maybe my favourite yet?! It's been wonderful to following along and see your craft grow. The songwriting is excellent, your voice is developing into a cool lower register at times and a bit more personality as a singer, and the melodic hooks are all memorable. I love the synth tones in this one. You're excellent in leaving space, having notes fade out.... Just awesome

Hi since you do an album each six months please do a very dark symphonic grunge goth rock pop Lana Del Rey Lady Gaga Alice in Chains Depeche Mode Marilyn Manson Rammstein types of mixtures for an album. Also listen to Anders Manga - Blood from roses. Can you make gorgeous instrumentals like that one? Jens Bader - On Time? Try them to see. :)

Jens is that you? 🤔 I'd enjoy those kind of stylistic shifts! While I put out a CD for Patreon members every six months, it's not really an album. Those take more like two years. So far I've got four tracks done for the next one (album 14).
