Crystina Page says she believed for years she had the cremains of her son, David, but his body and at least 189 others were found, improperly stored at the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose, Colo. Authorities say Jon Hallford, the funeral home's owner, and his wife, Carrie, were arrested and face multiple charges, including abuse of a corpse, theft and money laundering. KUSA’s Aaron Adelson reports.

To desecrate so many bodies of beloved family members without proper respect all just to commit fraud is just disturbing and unconscionable. I pray the families receive proper closure and the Hallfords repent and take full accountability for their malicious criminal actions.

That's an immense amount of money they were pocketing. Quick google search says the cheapest is like 3k for a direct cremation. That's over half a million on the low side.... chances r they were able to pocket much more... i hope the deceased get to now rest in peace and their loved ones, justice.

I hope this mother keeps fighting the good fight! Funeral directors and morticians are super shady in general. They take advantage of people who’ve lost their loved ones at a time when they’re the most vulnerable. My grandma died in December 2022. They charged us just over $8,000 for cremation and we STILL have yet to receive her remains as of November of 2023!

There was a place that had babies, dead babies stuck in the attic. The most common reason is the cremation machine breaks down. Don't know the proper name. But my son is a welder and they cost big money to repair. If greedy they just get rid of body saving having to burn at the hot heat. You absolutely never know who's ashes you are getting unless you are standing right there and they don't allow it. And I hate to say it but we have clue how they treat, handle, our loved ones while in the funeral home, morgue. I think we would all be horrified. We need change in this area.

When a human body is cremated you get about 3% to 5% of the total ashes in your Urn. There is a LOT of ash. These people could cremate one person and have enough ashes to give to 20 or 30 families. They just left the rest of the bodies to rot.

How many times does this have to happen before there is nation wide rules, laws, regulations, standards, and supervision??? Seriously people! You don't understand how many times someone does this. Makes me sick and why can't we just bury burn our own at this point absolutely insane that no one is changing this. I so sorry hun. Some places don't even have official people doing this. But we trust them w our loved ones in our most vulnerable states. All that while being robbed in the first place. Your son did not die in vein my dear. He is giving you the strength to expose to make sure that there are laws, someone watching over these places. I think you might have just found a new career if you want it. I mean there is no way that every single person I know would not agree something needs to be done. Start your non profit and watch this country support you in not letting this happen year after year across this country. I am sorry for loss. But for some reason I feel he is not done. And I don't believe in all that. Make your day amazing.

Kinda makes me think of Night of the Living Dead 3D 2006 where the funeral kept all the bodies & was afraid of the fire so he didn't cremate them. Kept hundreds of them. But for it to happen in real life is sickening. The other is a movie. This is real life. You cant do this to ppl! My gosh. These ppl thought they had their loved one & it wasnt even them. It was nothing. The Halfords were treating their clients like trash. They were not in the job of garbage disposal. Their job was to care for the needs of the living & the dead & the fell very short of that. Down right evil!! I hope they get many years in prison for this. They might have already been dead but that is no excuse to treat them like that way 😢
