Colorado Scrambles: Tenmile Traverse Hike Guide - BEST COLORADO RIDGE TRAVERSES

In this video, Rick and I tackle an alternative to the classic Tenmile Traverse Ridge Scramble. We start at the upper Miners Creek TH, hiked up to Tenmile Peak and traversed over to Peak 6. While we did not finish the remaining Peaks, we did stay direct to the ridge which is the best part of this traverse.

I attempted to run/climb/ hike this in June, but unfortunately got rained out by some massive storms. However it has some of the best views in all of Colorado and will definitely be back

9:32-9:54 from a 47 y.o.’s perspective it is amazing what quality and perspective of video we have today. And it’s available to average people. Wow, great shots!

Awesome. That crux looked really crazy. Its been so long since I've been in Colorado I will have to learn how to deal with exposure all over again! But great video, those drone shots are really good. I'm inspired to give this line a try whenever I get back.

There's a crazy ridge link up called the wurl near where I live, wurl stands for wastatch ultimate ridge link up that wpuod be cool to see you attempt that if you were in or near Salt Lake city

I did this back in July and absolutely loved it! Just wondering why you chose the trailhead you did instead of Mount Royal out of Frisco?

Also, very glad to hear you talk about some scrambling and slightly more technical hiking that I have actually done. As someone who is just getting into more technical mountains its helpful to hear you talk about something I rembmer doing very well myself.

Had no desire to do the whole thing when the sections I didn’t show arent really much of a scramble, more of a ridge walk. Was trying to maximize the scrambling portions in one hike.

Just curious, looks like you are just over top of the bike lane from Frisco up to Copper? I think I see the large still ponds that the path goes thru up near Copper? My favorite road biking path ever!

Similar in spots, but much easier overall. Much smaller sections of exposure outside of the Dragon.

Awhile back, I found an online database where you could search hiking/climbing accidents for any given location. I remember reading about climbing and avalanche deaths on Mt Rainier and Mt Baker in WA. This vid made me want to look up this hike, but I don't remember the name of the site -- help anyone?

CAIC for Colorado avalanches but you find more non-avalanche accidents from the American Alpine Journal.

@@_wesleyrich_ that's it, American Alpine Club has the searchable accident reports, thanks. Just read about a dude telemarking down the north face of Mt. Rainier who caught an edge and cartwheeled off the mountain, falling a half mile down the Willis Wall

So I've watched other people do this route and it didn't seem so technical. Are there multiple routes, some more "interesting" and some not?

Yes I’ve watched those same videos - yes, you can basically avoid all of the scrambling and exposed sections if you want but for me that’s not really the point of the traverse unless you are Trail running it. Essentially though, you can avoid the entire dragon and other exposed sections but just taking social trails around the tougher parts.

This is obviously a very dangerous ridge with Class IV. I prefer to stay off these type so I can live a long life. Those that get a thrill out of it are cut from a different cloth.
