Aerial survey of elk in Larimer County

Wildlife biologist Angelique Curtis conducted an aerial survey of the elk herds across Larimer County to asses the health of the animals following the Cameron Peak Fire. The flight also allowed her to obtain population demographic data to effectively and sustainably manage elk herds in Larimer County.
Aero Tech, Inc. chief pilot Cameron Stallings talks about the animal welfare aspects they consider in the air during the short duration of disturbances to the animals, which are warranted by the important biological information that is gathered from the survey.

Hopefully that area gets some good moisture in the next few months. Nice to see the herd growing even it's not peak conditions.

I was Estes one time and we heard a stampede, we looked over this hill and there were thousands of them. Colorado is the best.

I just wanted to share the news for other Snowmobile owners. Big Horn Park in Kremmling Colorado, is access to the rabbit ears range. You can go anywhere you want, it doesn't matter that you're not allowed to take your snowmobile into the forest, people are doing it anyways, the park ranger who lives here doesn't care. You can race around the road here at break neck speeds, the posted 15mph is not for drunks on snowmobiles here. 50-80mph on the straights is just fine apparently. A sledder was almost run over by a speeding truck here just the other day, the truck slid off the road and into the bank where the sletter was seeking shelter. That's how crazy things are getting here, someone is going to die because it's a free-for-all out here. Remember, it's rules for thee but not for me with Colorado parks and wildlife. Do not support them, don't buy OHV stickers, don't get spark arresters, don't play any of their games anymore. Colorado parks and wildlife employs tyrants and enforces rules on you that they do not follow. If you believe in Colorado Parks and Wildlife, come out here to bighorn park on a Sunday and watch as it's rules for thee but not for me. Can we make Sheep and Elk Mountain a designated OHV area? Because it pretty much is already.

Plan on selling my 55 acres and house in OH to move to Colorado when my sons out of school. Long time to come but helps get me through the days.

I moved here 7 years ago and man oh man it has gotten so crowded and expensive. So many people are moving here it’s mind boggling. I’m trying to talk my wife into moving to Wyoming. Wayyy less crowded and cheaper version of Colorado 👍

Does CPW watch videos on youtube posted by hunters in Colorado hunting elk ? Damn near every video I see shows blatant disregard for proper wear of hunter safety orange ...... pretty balsy to post videos like this but wonder if CPW sees this and does anything about it ???

I think that's ranger-enforcement jobs -- it takes time to commence an investigation, get the proper authority, and then act on said investigation to find and prosecute (all which take time and money), but they're probably short-staffed and already busy with other projects/issues/rescues/etc.
