The overlap of metal heads and funk is quite significant and for good reason! A lot of people don't know this but oughta know: rock and roll would not exist in its current form without the massive influence of funk, R&B, blues and wider African-American music. Just go ahead and listen to some really early rock and roll and you'll hear the influence. Good stuff, man.

I met James Brown before he was TRULY famous. I was a kid when he did a skit in a lil town in VA. Whitesville VA. Then at a fair called the TASLEY FAIRGROUNDS in TASLEY VA. My dad played with him I guess a few times. At 54 years old I still listens to all his hits and Side B songs. I love his music. R.I.H.P.

Man, I’ve been listening to James Brown since I was thirteen years old - have got so much from his music and his attitude. This groove has to be my favourite from his entire canon. If there is a music heaven, Brown earned his place.

People truly don't give the man the credit he deserves. But you'll hear about Michael Jackson. And cats like that to this day. James Brown one of the best to ever perform. Anything. He will never be duplicated. I'm 42. And have been lucky enough to have awesome parents who rocked his records. Along with rock and disco etc. We listened to it all. ❤ some James Brown though. Tops!

It's 1973 all over I remember my older brother busting through the door and saying yo Geoff I got the Black Caesar album and he saying you gotta hear the boss but he let the whole album play and when this track came on I was loving the guitars and bass and drums did it for me expecially that change when the bass goes a little solo and the drummer hits his stick aww man I was done you see we in the hood all loved James Brown and by the time the needle got to the boss it was all over look at me know what you see you see a bad mother funka

geoffrey lee this was the Papa Don't Take No Mess, The Big Payback prelude. He revolutionized music. Countless musicians in rarefied air, had to bring their A game. This played in the house growing up and guess who destroyed the album cover lol. A classic too. Dammit man!

ML Grest, you’ve done some google research. Songs like Rapper’s Delight went mainstream because of the disco breaks. Hip Hop didn’t just began when those dudes hit the booth. The official turfs were block parties, old buildings and parks. And FYI, ‘79 is still considered the ‘70s. Take the L son.
