Columbia University President Minouche Shafik gave seven different answers when asked if Mohamed Abdou was still employed as a professor during a Congressional hearing on campus anti-Semitism.
Shafik fielded several questions at the April 17 hearing from Republican lawmakers regarding Abdou's employment status, but her answer changed every time. She claimed Abdou was terminated, but he was seen on campus allegedly teaching classes this week.

In fairness, you're very dishonest. "He has been terminated" is mutually exclusive from "he's still working here but will be terminated at a future date."

@@PPA625 no actually I’m not dishonest. You just have low verbal intelligence. Having been terminated doesn’t necessarily mean you leave immediately. People often finish up their responsibilities rather than leave mid task, yet their contract is not continued therefore it is terminated. Terminated literately means ‘bring to an end’ rather than ‘immediately end’, they have brought it to an end.

@@finnbruton7274 - Yes, you're extremely dishonest . It's plain and simple. He's currently employed there until his future termination date. The answer to the question of "is he still employed there?" is "YES, until a future date." The question was about RIGHT NOW, and he's still employed RIGHT NOW. If he wasn't employed RIGHT NOW, then his termination was in the PAST, not the FUTURE. I can't dumb it down any more than that... but you're dishonest and you already know what I've said is the truth. No point in continuing this with you since you're dishonest and lack basic logic skills and the simple understanding of the English language. Reply with whatever dishonest, word salad you want. I'm not reading or replying to this and further. You can have the last word/lie because it's all you've got. /end (for me)

The title is a stretch. It's pretty clear the guy is going to finish out his duties for the semester, after which he will be terminated, and will never be able to return to the university.

The title is perfectly accurate. "He has been terminated" is NOT the same as "he will be terminated." She was clearly lying or intentionally misleading at first and then dodging the question, which is why they kept repeating the question 7 times, to get her to tell the truth. If she would have been completely honest from the start, she would have said "he's finishing out his duties for the semester and then will be terminated."
