LOL! Definitely RUN! Love that line and what it leads up to. The murderer is on his way to a life changing moment as in handcuffed with their rights being read. Love seeing his real time wife in the many episodes. She truly was a pleasure to watch with them in the same frame. Professionalism to the letter! @024! Columbo is at the top of my list to watch.

Peter Falk, when reading his lines, WAS Columbo. John Wayne , when reading his lines, was the written character BUT he was always John Wayne. Two very different acting styles. And then there was Clark Gable, another great actor. One of my favorite movies was "Run Silent Run Deep". If you watched that movie and liked it, you gotta' watch "Das Boot". No "name" actors but they were vary good at playing their character. If you do watch this movie (Das Boot), watch it with the audio in German with subtitles. It's a very different experience rather than listening to a "German crew" speaking in English.

This was a great episode with Jack Cassidy playing the murderer. Also the creator of the Mike Hammer PI character, Mickey Spillane was in it, as the writer who got murdered. Not to mention Mariette Hartley who was in one of my favourite Star Trek episodes of all time "All Our Yesterdays", where she gets attracted to Spock after he travels back in time 5,000 years into a doomed planet's ice age past. The murder on stereo title I don't get. The original Columbo seasons were recorded in mono, so what would be the point of them using a stereo tape recorder for the murdered writer to dictate into?

Can anyone explain to me what Columbo means at 0:35 when he said his wife wanted to watch Betty Davis at 2am? This aired in 1974, and I am almost 100% certain the TV networks were off air by 1am/1.30am. Was there 24 hour stations in Los Angeles which would air movies at 2am? Just heard this line and it makes you think his wife was watching TV at 2am, as in 1974 there was hardly anyone who could afford a VCR. Thanks.

local stations were on at that time; my area had three of them that showed late night movies and shows.

Sometimes those stations wouldn't go off the air until 2 or 3am, and they'd have a late late movie. I remember seeing The Postman Always Rings Twice and Kelly's Heroes on the late late show, and seeing a commercial for Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte that was gonna start at 1am.

I have to say, it looks more like a mono tape recorder to me. I doubt he would have used a stereo device just for his dictation back in 1974.

A cassette recorder as shown later in shot. All were stereo and the tape was use able in car radio cassette form from the early 1970s.

Columbo Catches a Murder on Stereo? How can you tell, all the Columbo episodes of the 1970's were recorded in mono. I believe the episodes made between 1989 to 2003 were recorded in stereo.

How is it a murder on stereo? At 5:49 there is a very clear shot of the tape recorder and it has only one loudspeaker built into it. Meaning Columbo heard the sound of the gunshot in mono when he pressed his ear to it. I haven't see this episode recently although I have it in my DVD collection. From what I remember Kane kills the writer Mallory after being hired by Greenleaf to do the hit, and then Greenleaf kills Kane.

Mary Anita Clays got a superman tatoo exactly the same as mine on her left foot in exactly the same place done by the same lee hamata bloke that did mine and a black snowman tatoo exactly the same as mine on her right foot in exactly the same place done by the same bloke that did mine a different bloke to lee hamata.
