A family legend is that while my mother was home one morning in early 1995, she played Columns and couldn't tear herself away. When my father came home from work that night, she was still playing with a maxed-out score -- a fact pointed out by my dad that finally got her to put down the controller. This music reminds me so much of playing this game with her as a boy.

Same memory except minus the dad to stop her, so instead it would be 2-3 day marathons and she'd pause it for hours when something needed done.

Seems like from the comments, a lot of moms were playing columns, like its an universal thing no matter the country, kinda wholesome if you ask me.

One of my late mom's favorite games, she was really an expert, God knows how many levels she has passed. I remember I woke up on midnight, she was playing the game by herself. We got a very bad financial issue back then, my mom ran a family business. Perhaps this game was her only escape. If only I knew back then how hard it is to grow up and taking care a family, now I know.

Columns has a few songs that are the best on the system! Maybe not in terms of killer beats but they have a ton of depth and sound very three dimensional (if that even makes sense). Very fitting to the game and memorable!

For the Sister of the Fates who decides how each human will die, Atropos’ theme is very jaunty and fun. I’m pretty sure she was the one Sister of Fate who couldn’t be bargained with.

Damn man, so many memories rushing in with the song. Back in the 90s I used to play this game in a small room with a small tv on a 6in1 cart and the music, even back then blew my mind to pieces. Somewhat still the melody feels kinda sad which I never figured out why :D

Clotho is the best of the Columns themes. To be honest, I never cared much for Columns. It wasn't addictive like Tetris. It wasn't competitive like Puyo Puyo or Tetris Attack. It wasn't quirky like Dr. Mario or Yoshi Cookie. And it certainly didn't have much of a story. But Clotho... still haunts me in my dreams.
