LIBERATION OF PRISONERS AND SLAVE LABORERS IS SEEN AS US FORCES INVADE GERMAN CITIES AND TOWNS AND CONDUCT MOP-UP OPERATIONS.

Amazing footage. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Brings back those childhood dreams and memories of friendly games; the parents fears and woes which often kept us playing all day long outdoors together with most treasured friends. Some of which were childish Trunkenbolds; black faced; with smelly socks and grubby hands.

Psychologically impressive but ineffective against intrenched troops, and the Japanese were intrenched or underground. This was one of the major problems for the Americans - they had to dig out or bury the Japanese.

Read up on Ramree Island. How the Japanese fled into a swamp that was infested with salt water crocodiles. It was very gruesome.

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE AMERICAN MILITARY SINCE WW2? NOWADAYS WE CAN SPEND TRILLIONS ON EQUIPMENT, MATERIAL, MEN & WOMEN, TRAINING, BASES, TECHNOLOGY AND CANNOT WIN A WAR! WTF?

For one thing, back then the enemy were uniforms. They didn't look like civilians. Second the politicians let the generals and admirals fight the war. In Korea , Nam and Afghanistan the politicos micro managed. Including Joe Bobo.

Won Gulf War 1 and Gulf War 2. It’s nationbulding that all that blood and wardware cannot win because nationbulding is not a war. This was learned in Vietnam and then forgotten.
