Awesome video! I also served between 69/72 but was stationed on missile destroyers. I was an Radarman RD on my first ship USS Dahlgren DLG-12/DDG-43, and an Operations Specialist OS on my second ship USS Richmond K Turner DLG/CG-20. All the equipment you showed we also used on my first ship, but being a destroyer our CIC was not as elaborate as an aircraft carriers is. We did mostly primary air search, navigation plot, electronic warfare EW, and anti-submarine warfare plot. Because we had missiles on board we also had a tactical plot for that as well. If I remember right you had to be an E6 or above to actually control aircraft though. That is an outstanding pre-NTDS CIC!

Yes, what can you show/discuss about the EW suite. Former USAF EW B-52 system specialist. Also tech data writer for F/A-18.

Former OS1 here, 1981-1991. First ship was USS Tuscaloosa (LST 1187) in San Diego ... an Uber for Marines. Then off to shore duty at RTC San Diego as a Recruit Company Commander. Then to USS O'Bannon (DD 987) in Charleston, SC. Never served on a carrier. Never even BEEN on a carrier. Where is CIC located? (What level?)
