Hey IRL the PIAT was able to be fired from inside an enclosed space(such as a building), while anything rocket propelled was a big no-no.

7:27 That one-shot frontal kill of a Panther has me rubbing my hands and cackling in anticipation. The M26 Pershing really feels like it's going to provide a more or less direct bridge between the WW2 titles and CMCW.

With the Pershing and late-war Soviet vehicles in Red Thunder, they could put together a game that would cover the early months of the Korean War. They would need a few new vehicles, especially the M46, but that’s basically a Pershing with a better engine.

@@PaulMcElligott The possibility of them doing the Korean War came up on the Battlefront forums. But it doesn't look like it is going to be happening in the near future. They can only work on so much at once, and doing Korea would mean taking time out of doing more on the eastern front, or on the western front, or making content for CMCW, or doing another modern war game. I think they definitely agree that it would be worth doing. But it's not clear that it would be *more* worth doing than something else that would have to get set aside for it. But maybe in 10 years when CMCW has a full roster of NATO and WP armies they'll be able to set it aside and do a historical Cold War conflict, like Korea. That's my hope at least.

There's a CMFI mod for Korea (which I haven't tried) but yeah, CM Korea would be awesome. Tricky in some places, I think, what with the emphasis on fortification in the more static parts of the war, but plenty of opportunities elsewhere (Chosin, Inchon, Task Force Smith, anyone?)

Seeing the crew in the Wasp practically standing up makes me cringe. It’s bad enough that TCs and halftrack crew/passengers are doing their darnedest to expose themselves instead of using the armour to take cover, but the Wasp is really just taking the piss now with 3/4 crew exposing about half their torsos instead of ducking down.

You should see them when they actually stand up! But yes, I know what you mean. I'm going to assume they have to sit up to work all the valves and dials and then try not to think about it too much.

@@usuallyhapless9481Mmm, saw it first time with the latest CMFI DLC. It’s really a bit… yeah… having to go within 100m of enemies is bad enough in other open topped AFVs. Oh well, Pershings though! I’m a bit surprised that they don’t seem to have included the Rangers though, I was hoping to relive Hill 400 from my childhood days of Call of Duty.

That German urban double reverse slope bridge defense looks tough. Reading about the actual battle apparently, you'll get b! tch smacked around by the US 9th Armored Division aka "Phantom Division"... so fun. Also, the bridge battle takes place during the end of Operation Lumberjack when the 3rd and 9th Armored Divisions (with 9th and 104th Infantry Divisions there as well) rolled through Cologne where the 3rd Division' Pershing squared off with a German Panther. So depending on how "historically accurate" the mission there might be your Panther v Pershing fight in CM.

M18's 2.7x scope is graduated out to 1800 yards. You can stick the thing on a M1917 tripod for long range work, and I suppose you could do indirect fire with that. Still it's an absurdly long-range light HE fire support weapon for infantry.

If I recall correctly the US army first encountered Panthers in significant numbers during Anzio. A year or so later it had the vehicles shown here. The Germans by contrast didn't significantly upgrade their tanks after encountering Matilda and Char B in 1940 and only did so when going into panic mode after meeting Soviet armor and even then it was well into 1942 before significant numbers of longer barreled mark 4s appeared. Comet will be an interesting addition. I thought it's gun wasn't quite a 'true' 17lber but I may be mistaken. Fortunately for the Germans the Centurion was a little to late for the war. A US 90mm is the only gun I have had destroy a Jagdtiger in the front. One of my Jackson TDs hit it with a tungsten round just left of the gun which pierced the 250mm armor and killed the crew in the upper casement (from about 750meters).

I don't want to sound like some kind of bonkers, latter-day, McCarthyite, but I would enjoy having the ability to have Red Army forces face-off with Western Allied forces. However, I don't know the first thing about CM modding so it might be impossible, but considering they're all basically the same game, running on the same engine, there could be some of way of doing it.

It is impossible to fully replicate the Soviet army (Combat Mission does not allow for new units to be made, or existing units to be modified), however, the in-game 3d models of units can be changed. Theoretically, someone could mod together a reskin for the German army to make them look like Soviets (or, for CMRT, reskin the German army to look like the Americans), but it would require a limited suspension of disbelief (as the underlying equipment and TOE would still be the same).

Sadly not. I think a lot of people were hoping for Amtracs for that exact reason, but they didn't make it in. Doesn't mean that operations like the landings on Walcheren can't replicated in the editor, but there won't be a ship (Buffalo?) to shore component, forces will have to start on the beach.

Can i ask what gpu are you using? I have AMD and i have tons of problems with CM games, i wonder if CM games run fine with nvidia's RTX gpu.

CM games are currently broken for AMD GPU users and have been for like a year at this point, unfortunately.

I've on Nvidia, so not much help I'm afraid. As far as I know, Coddykin is right and AMD cards unfortunately no longer support CM very well.

If i understand correctly, the Wasp should only have a crew of 2. Did they model 5 crew in it?

The later version of the Wasp (Mk IIc I think) is modelled with 5 crewmen. I'm not sure why and when you give it an area fire order, two of the crew are obviously not busy because they stand up and start firing their webleys.

The funny thing thing is, just yesterday I finally finished the US campaign in Gates of Hell. In which the final mission includes the Pershing vs Panther fight in Cologne. So I was getting a bit of deja-vu during parts of this.

I don't play enough CMFI. The terrain is great, the forces are interesting, there's mid-late war stuff. It's awesome.

Can anyone get decent frame rates on modern PCs? My 7950x3d with 4090 seems to get around 15 fps and my i9 13950H with 4080 laptop seems to run it off the integrated graphics card at about 1024x768 at 8 fps. I want to buy this but I can’t handle the chugging. Or the LOD issues on terrain.

This is the only CM game that I don't have (other than Cold War), but I'll wait for the key shops. No way I'm paying $99.50 CAD (and that's 30% off!!) or $135 CAD (!!??) on the BF site for this in 2024! 😂 Steve needs to get a serious reality check already. Spare me the explanations of why the price is high...I've been hearing it since 2000. The real reason is that they have no real direct competition and can continue to milk their customer base.
