Wow I didn't expect the game to accurately simulate an American commander's frustration at his own troops for using excessive force.

What I like about the Combat Mission series is that your troops can and will disregard your order if it means saving their skins during a dangerous situation. (i.e running away, popping smoke or disregarding target archs if they feel like they're under fire from something out of their arch) It's a perfect simulation of the men on the ground doing what they think is better for them rather than what their commanders think is better for them.

Who would win? A Syrian special forces sniper concealed in a building with good angle or one rocket boy?

I love the range of more detailed sims you've been showing.

Good to see you playing more of this franchise however, my one slight pointer to you Arch, be more free in splitting up your infantry into teams. Yes it takes more time for orders however it allows you to set up a nice fire and manoeuvre base as well as also allows you to split of small units like anti-tank teams, or scout teams or allows you to combine the full squad at base level.

I swear Arh loves weird over complex games like Kibs likes rusters....

From a quick glance, this game reminds me of Ground Control which is not a bad thing. Ground Control II was good, but lost some of the atmosphere the original held. Unless I miss my mark, I am glad they have decided to continue the franchise in a roundabout way because I feel the old RTS needed further exploration in a non-alien world. Ah, spotting. Lay down where you want the unit to go, click on the end of their way point which will light up, select target and see if they can see what you want them to see from where you want them. Also, split squads up, move them 3-4 squares, set a waypoint, repeat. Then set them at intervals of 10-20 seconds but have one move immediately. This will leap frog them to open ground and while they are passed, provide covering fire to the element that is moving. Once they are close to where you want to assault, gather them in the same square and they will reform then assault. They will be "rested" and ready to go. Going that far assaulting will tire them out. Also in hindsight, you should of blasted the walls before assaulting.

3:54 not only that but the Bradley in its later variants starting with the M2A2 is also one of the most heavily armored vehicles of the 30ish ton IFV class with quite the chunky laminate and composite inserts. Shame these guys aren't fitted with the BUSK system (Bradley equivalent of the Abrams TUSK package) that puts ERA bricks all over it too and the nifty remote weapons station that mounts on the outside of the Commanders Thermal Viewer that can move independently and has its own optics.

@ 10:25 you lamented an inability to switch off weapons in the game engine. The best way to do this is to use the target command and select a really short target arc. Holding shift while creating a target arc makes it circular. Useful if you want your scout team to move and occupy an OP and not engage anything at long distance that you just want them to spot. Selecting individual movement waypoints allows you to define target arcs for each stretch of the path.

Fun fact, during the gulf war a single Bradley killed three tanks at point blank range. They came over the ridge, both sides were surprised, and the IFV simply gutted the enemy with missiles and close in fire.

Nice game. On one hand I agree with Arch about war. On the other...I can see a certain Lord Commander nodding his fat head in approval of hamfisting HE everywhere.

im just now learning this game but i was under the impression that if you tell armored vehicles to "target lightly" they will only use secondary weapons like machine guns and not fire the main gun. im not sure though

3:56 well at least with the Stryker Family its got a ceramic sheath under its hull unlike all the other Mowag Piranha lineage (like the LAV-25). But it's still sometimes known as "Kevlar Coffins" since these guys were ordered in the mid '90s before the US Army was aware of how many RPG-7s were floating around across the world and how easy it was to use them in a very crude manner. The requirement for it to be capable of air transport by C-130 really hobbled its armor capacity.

I think I got one of these games as a free demo from a pc mag in the 90s

In regards to Risk assesment, a hidden infantry Squad with a guided ATGM it ranks significantly higher in my Opinion than an entire Squad of syrian T62s The Syrian Tanks have terrible Optics and are easy to spot, the infantry however can actually see on occasion and can hide.

The game looks decent for beginners. I will say however Arch the Stryker is vastly superior to the M113 having been in the military and used both. The Stryker is not a phenomenon anti vehicle platform until the new V-haul models with 30MM autocannons. However in city fighting the Stryker is 100 times better at engaging ground troops with RPG's and other infantry troops then a M113 and is better then a Bradley at that as well. I have over 26 months in country using the platform. You should check out the battle for Baqubah in 2007 and the massed amount of experienced troops we beat there. Edit: I will also say a MGS or a ATGM would beat a T62 or earlier tank with ease and might even kill a T72 head to head due to the range advantage and the killing power of the Tow missile and 105MM cannon.

A Strykers armor can only take 50 cal unless its even more up armored than the usual standard up armor plates put on all of them. That being said I wouldnt want to be in one when it gets shot by a 50.

This is like 2 years too late and you probably know by now bit you can prevent your units from prematurely targeting something by selecting 'Target arc' then holding shift when your cursor is over the unit you want and adjust the radius to just be around the unit.

doesn't the bradly have like aluminum armor like about an inch thick making it vulnerable to even a RPK

I would look through your upload videos but you have hidden most of the non lore videos. All I can remember was you stopping a civilian car searching for weapons and you uesd a translator to talk with the driver.
