Back in 1963 I watched every episode of combat with my brother and Dad . Combat was one of the best shows of all times ! Vic Morrow and the rest of the crew were a perfect match for the show !!! Absolutely 💯 percent the best show ever !!!

Sergeant Saunders is the man, how he instinctively covered his charge Cage to protect him when the ss threw the grenade was so real and quite impressive

The Wounded Don't Cry-- one of the best human dramas in the series. The writers and producers, the casting director and all those involved, as well as the splendid actors, made Combat what it was, and what it always will be on the screen-- nothing short of brilliant!

Just incredible how TV shows back then were so great and told human/morality stories worth listening to....and it's not a coincidence that most people growing up from this time frame (early sixties) have turned out pretty good. Hopefully the new generations will appreciate the type of great stories and learn life lessons from the directing/quality/writing/acting from that great TV era :)

One of the best episodes of the series. Vic Morrow out does himself. What an actor! What a loss in his early tragic death. A superior director made this episode what it is.

This episode was filmed on 11/19/63. What happened 3 days later? Oscar Berengi was on that Twilight Zone episode in which he played the brutal S.S. commandant and meets the caretaker. Deaths Head! Damn! These shows taught moral lessons.

I first saw the COMBAT series when I was 13 and just enjoyed the fighting scenes. 60 yrs on and having served the military for 40 yrs, I now appreciate the humanity parts of war.

Some great close-up scenes. The best action scenes were the dialogue between the two sergeants. An excellent Combat. Carl Boehm also gone in 2014.

Good ole Sarge! I would've followed that guy anywhere into combat or elsewhere, very believable as a top US Army sergeant. Good ones like Vic portrayed were worth their weight in gold according to my father who was a retired US Army Lt Col and served in WWII and Korea. Still such a fantastic show!

The writing is excellent. Saunders dialogue and point of view nothing held back about the enemy.the Germans he Doesn't trust any of them! And Nimoy all soft and compassionate and Kirby telling him he better listen to the sarge. The writer Just lets these characters talk..brilliant writing

Sgt. Saunders had to battle against his own sense of humanity almost as much as he had to battle against the Germans, knowing that going soft can get you killed. I guess you could say that he was fighting a two front war sometimes.

This was my show when I was a kid. Severe 6 yrs in the USN, battle tested in Lebanon, Syria, Grenada, Panama & Iraq. Caje is a true WARRIOR!!!

I read a book about the Combat! series once. They guys really liked Leonard Nimoy. What a great crew.

Vic Morrow was one helluva an actor & director. RIP Vic.

When I was a boy I watched a Combat episode entitled Jonah. That episode I understood 100 percent although my english back then was that of a grade one student from a distant country.

Also To hell and back. Starring Audie murphy.the most decorated soldier of ww11. These movies I saw it in 1962. I was 14 years old.

Its a good show,although Bauer should have surrendered earlier. The incident with the bird was a nice touch.Nice to see Leonard Nimoy in the series.

Of course, for the purposes of the script, Vic Morrow had to feature, but in reality, the sergeant should never have left his squad like that, he should have sent Caje.

Give Saunders and Gaje promotions. Give them jump-step promotions to sergeant first class and buck sergeant. The truck looks like the deuces-and-a-half we drove in the 1970s. They were made by AM General at a former Studebaker plant built in WW2 to handle war production. Many Russians thought Studebaker was the American word for automobile.

Wow. Halfway through I thought sure the German who spoke English was leading them into a trap. The sarge is always right about human nature. He WAS right about the German planning to escape, but he really did want to bring back the plasma. So the sarge was only half right. But after all the crap he has witnessed he had NO reason to trust any German. It's hard to know if sarge would have shot him in the back. Maybe he could have just kept walking and got away. After they found the plasma the sarge knew the German was at least right about that. There were lots of Germans in the regular army who were just ordinary people caught up in a mess they didn't start. Many of them who were taken to the US as POW were model prisoners and actually made friends with some Americans, I have heard stories of some who later immigrated to the US after awhile. I worked with an Italian who did that. He didn't want to go back after he saw how modern the US was. He was a POW in a camp not far from Rockford, IL. He became a trustee and made friends with people in town when they escorted him to get supplies. He was amazed by how modern it was with electricity, telephones, running water, Didn't have that in the village he came from. He didn't want to go back but Geneva convention requires it to prevent POW from being held. He said he begged to stay. They couldn't even let him sign papers saying he wanted to stay. It only took about two years for him to save up enough money to come back, He settled in Rockford, got work and rented an appt. LOL

I never realized just how many actors got a start on this series.

The Germans in WW2 didn't have large banks of blood supplies such as whole blood or blood plasma that they could supply to front line medical units. Instead they relied on blood transfusions in the field. It was a significant problem for them.

Not arguing at all, but when you're shooting 30 + hour-long shows per year it's a wonderment that the continuity was as good as it was.

Vic is such bad ass he can push a two and a half ton truck out of the mud with just his hands.

My 10th birthday got the Combat play set complete with the THOMPSON my friends all played combat and made the new kids play the Germans Lol

If you are not Doc, Cage, Little John or Kirby, you don't want to be on Sander's squad.

The German Sgt. looks a little bit like Jon Cryer (Alan Harper) of Two and Half Men. Now playing the part of Lex Luthor on the TV series Supergirl. I just can't see him playing the part of a WWII German soldier or currently as Lex Luthor on Supergirl. Just not evil enough.

Our AM General 5/4-ton trucks were actually better off road than the Dodge Power Wagons that replaced them in the 1970s, although the Dodges were much better on the autobahns. The 2 1/2-ton trucks like this one did well on the highway or off road; they hadn't been replaced when I was discharged.

Oscar Beregi plays a German doctor. In a twilight zone episode plays a German officer in the SS revisiting Dachau . Bad move. And Beregi plays in The Untouhables known as the teacher. I forgot his name he used 👈😫🔫
