Ahh...I could almost smell the JP8, hydraulic fluid, engine oil and jet exhaust again. Was a Flight Engineer/Door gunner on the HH-60G back during the 90's . Fun times.

Currently in Flight Engineer training for c130s, dying to put in a few years and transfer to a combat rescue unit as an eng/gunner on Pavehawks. Really hope I get there

Bro no wayyyyyy, I’m going into pj’s and I said when I graduate training I’m going to get that verse tattooed on my arm because it matches up with the pararescue motto “these things we do that others may live”

129th HH-60 Pavehawk Crew Chief 2001 to 2019. Before joining the 129th, was a Harrier Plane Captain in the Marines for 10 years. Grew up in Mountain View, so was great to finish and retire in my hometown.

Man I Love This!! This is what I want to do, be an Air Force Combat Search and Rescue Helicopter Pilot. I feel something in my heart calling me to do this, to save lives. Hopefully God’s plan has this in store for me.

As brother aidan mentioned in another comment; John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” If your heart tells you this is your mission, than a majority you are against any enemy, for you have our Father above you. When the children of israel fought again the anaks and moabites and moreso, not one of them died. I wanna be on that armys side, and so do you. And we are! You are protected brother, so do what it is your Father wills

That's what we do brother, as PJ'S I built my whole career around it, last 8 years in the middle east. I already spoke fluent English, Russian and German I now can add Arabic, Pashtun and Farsi

So are these fellas pj’s? I searched up the Air Force search and rescue units, and nothing is said about them being a part of afsoc. Just kinda confused cause I thought pj’s are Air Force sar

Hey dude so yeah Air Force and general SW classifications can be super confusing. Some of the clips in this video are of PJ’s/SMA however the army, marines, and navy also have CSAR units. PJ’s do fall under SOCCOM/AFSOC and are basically the ultimate CSAR unit designed specifically for Pilot and crew recovery however they are obviously a bit less specialized now and operate in pretty much any rescue role on the civilian or military side as well as performing as the medic for 24th STS and other ODA’s.

Yes and no ig umm lately the NAVY SARCs have been being used in more SOC operations because they have more training than what PJs do but yes PJs are AFSOC

The PJs are still and always gonna be apart of SOC but they’re being replaced sort of if that makes sense

PJs serve in 2 different Units. RQS (Rescue Squadron) STS (Special Tactics Squadron) (AFSOC) (24th STS under JSOC)

This is a combat rescue unit(s), so the guys jumping out of airplanes are PJs, the pilots are CSAR pilots, the aircrew are SMAs (Special Missions Aviators - gunners/flight engineers)
