Combat Story

Күн бұрын

Today’s Combat Story is one of perseverance and hustle on another level. We hear from Remi Adeleke who deployed multiple times as a Navy SEAL, but only after overcoming a truly difficult childhood of being stripped of his family’s wealth in Nigeria to hustling on the streets of the Bronx to make ends meet.
Remi would be one of those rare people who wanted to become a SEAL even though he couldn’t swim, just to give you an idea of his attitude and beliefs.
[Support us on Patreon and get exclusive content and insights at www.patreon.com/combatstory, including additional pictures of Remi from his time in uniform and on major Hollywood picture sets.]
After leaving the service, Remi has done it all. He was contacted by Hollywood and has either acted in or advised on multiple blockbuster movies and shows like Transformers, SEAL Team, and most recently the Terminal List with Chris Pratt.
He’s also a best selling author with a fantastic book “Transformed: A Navy SEAL's Unlikely Journey from the Throne of Africa, to the Streets of the Bronx, to Defying All Odds,” a clothing line called Kojo and more.
This is a true Combat Story of not just overcoming the odds down range, but overcoming every obstacle life in the inner city can throw at you.

- Combat Operations
Remi Adeleke was born in Western Africa, but following the death of his father, he, his mother, and his brother relocated permanently to the Bronx in New York City. After years of making regrettable decisions, Remi joined the Navy in 2002 and later became a Navy SEAL. Ending his successful naval career in 2016, he was led to pursue a career in speaking and acting. Remi holds a BS in organizational leadership and an MS in strategic leadership, both from the University of Charleston West Virginia. He resides in Southern California with his wife, Jessica, and their two sons, Cayden and Caleb.
Speaking about joining the team, Adeleke said: “Since I departed from the military in 2016 my main focus in life has been to inspire, motivate and educate people - whether through writing, speaking, or visual storytelling."

We had an Adeleke in my Tank Battalion and he was our intel guy. Spoke like 12 languages! He was rock hard. Looked like a guerrilla no lie but was the dopest nicest brotha. He would teach us about our lost heritage in Africa. Tell us stories about his up bringing. It was dope to serve with my African brothers.

I’ve heard some badass movie inspired SEAL stories on podcasts, Remi has the most insane and tactical. Also loved him as the cop in Ambulance. Next crazy story is Andy Stumphs first deployment being a chemical lab raid where he’s in Chem gear, mask and goggles. These guys ARE Universal soldiers and human beings

This is a priceless interview. Remi’s life is a triumph of the human spirit. Just incredible. I wonder, Ryan, if there is a technique in studio magic to clear up the boomy - ness in the audio attendant to the distance from mic sound. Regardless, an incredible interview. The three comments you featured at the end were spot on. The videos all deserve a deep reflection. Thanks for for this work. So moving.

Yeah, the audiobook is the bomb! especially since he narrates himself with Extra Life and verisimilitude. Don’t you think Michael Bay does more fantasy stories, visually spectacular, grand scale epics (Transformers, Pearl Harbour, Armageddon) movies. For Remi, though he was exactly inspired by Bay (The Rock, Bad Boys), I’d see his biopic made by grittier filmmakers For Example Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer) , Edward Zwick (Blood Diamonds), Michael Mann (Collateral), Ridley Scott (Body of Lies) or F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen) or better yet Ryan Coogler (Creed).

However seal team 6 a few years later reviewed him when he was up for promotion and shut the door on him. In the interview he did a few years ago he mentioned that he didn't know why he was banned other then that his teammates turned on him witch wouldn't be the first time it's happened and made public remember the most recent trial of Eddie Gallagher ? The same thing happened to him and actually multiple seals are now no longer part of the team's or are sitting in prison because they lied in the court system to get Eddie Gallagher put in prison for the rest of his life. One even said publicly he wished he killed him when he had the chance. and the others just didn't like him for some reason.

I've talked to other African immigrants who are very happy to have been admitted into the USA and given an opportunity to succeed. Funny they aren't nearly as disgruntled as Remi appears on that podcast, and they work like 3 jobs each day to get on the road to prosperity.
