SSSS Gridman and its sequel does feel like a retro styled anime with its setting but you may need to read up abit on the original series because theres a bit of cameos from an old character as well as a twist at the end but other than that it feels like an old anime adapted to modern standards

キャラデザと作監を担当された田村英樹さんは残念ながらゲーム業界の方に行ってしまわれたのですが時折アニメやられてます。原画を担当された山下将仁さん、佐野浩敏さん、松尾慎さん、大塚建さんは現役のアニメーターとして最前線でご活躍です。皆さんメカアクションが得意なので、ロボットアニメへの参加が多いですが、案外色々なアニメに参加されてます。佐野さんだけはここ数年病気療養中でしたが、直近のガンダムビルドメタバースとかで復活されてます。凄い方達なので、皆さんのお名前をアニメのテロップで見かけたらニヤっとして下さい😊

#AnimeHistory #FromCombattlerV #ToVoltesVThenVoltron Combattler V ran for 54 episodes from April 17, 1976 to May 28, 1977. Various manga adaptations were released both during its airing and afterwards. Many toys were also produced. The anime itself was brought to the Philippines. Production of Combattler was April 17, 1976 while Voltes V is June 4, 1977 are the same creator. The series (along with the later two shows) was created by Saburo Yatsude, who would later go on to create Golion (best known to American viewers as the "Lion Force" half of Voltron). ... The same concept would later go on to be used in Voltes V and in the Super Sentai series.

Voltes 5 lasted for 40 episodes. In the Philippines, the last remaining episodes were treated as a movie and aired in the 90s due to the fact that President Marcos, Sr. (Not to be confused with incumbent President Marcos, Jr.) banned the series.

@@wadewilson9614 Supposed sequel? Actually, the answer is No. Combattler V (1976-77), Voltes V (1977-78) and Daimos (1978-99) are all part of the trilogy series called Robot Romance Trilogy, that's the reason why there are similarities in each series.

Kind of especially in todays generation were the one that dominates in mecha anime series is none other than Mobile Suit Gundam and almost most of the mecha animes were also inspired to it, one of them is Code Geass.

If they were going to remake it, it would probably only gain popularity in Japan. If it got a Netflix Original treatment, it might gain better popularity outside of Japan.

@@ericxiao3911 No, that one is an updated (and jazzy) version of the original. My best guess is this is the Pachislot track? (I checked and it is indeed the pachinko one. There's a speedpaint with the OP without the sound effects if you search youtube for the pachinko opening.)

@@StrikeNoir105E A pachinko. Some years ago I saw the pachinko reboot of the first Tiger Mask anime. It's was awesome, better than the new and shameful anime series Tiger Mask W. Why don't they use a good style and attention to detail like these in the modern animation? The modern reboot/remake of old series are so poor and low in quality.

No. But it’s a same production (Sunrise). Cobattler V, Vultus V, General Daimos are part of the romantic trilogy.

Voltes V is basically a spiritual remake of Combattler, specifically the first half. But with the designs and names tweaked and a subplot about a missing dad slotted in. @VitedaPeterPan That's essentially what I said... And it's blatently obvious Voltes lifts a lot from Combattler.
