When removing the capacitor tin the tip of the solder iron with solder, just a little, then heat the connection. The solder transfers heat quicker. You can hold the solder iron a bit longer as the circuit will take the heat OK. Watch to see the solder melting. ( I fixed electronics for 35 years. )

I'm about to attempt this when I have some time off from work in the near future. Your video is exactly what I need. I actually watched this about a year of more ago and purchased the capacitors you provided the amazon link for. Now I just have to dig through my tool cabinet and find them. Haha Thanks for sharing such useful information! I'll give an update after I decide to tackle this job.

@@Petruccio1881 I finally followed through and did the job! It works great, and I used your video for everything step by step. Then I just watched it backwards to put it all back together. Unfortunately I was a little too forceful with the middle left air vent and snapped it near the top part. No big deal though as that is very easy to replace. Thanks again!!!

Your video is really helpful ,I appreciate you posting it. I've got to do this but a bit worried I'll put it back togather wrong or break a fragile part.
@Petruccio18812 жыл бұрын
Yes, some parts are fragile, be careful with air conditioner outlet

Just orders that lil capacitor thing rn. We’ll see how it all goes soon

Can you link me the little capacitor that you used? I literally know nothing about electronics or those little numbers and stuff and what they mean. but I do know how to solder. I had to do something similar to this on my radio to get my AC controls back but getting info on the little resistor was kinda hell to find and there are so many different kinds!

I have a Prius I bought new in 2008. It currently has 320,000 miles. It has this problem from time to time. After watching this, it's pushed me over the edge to buy a new Prius. lol

This will be my first attempt at soldering, but this detailed tutorial honestly has me not worried at all. What was that paste/goop you used with the soldering gun/pen?

I'm glad that my video will help you, I used regular soldering flux. thanks for watching

Will this show up with ANY scan tool? Also,, would a bad combo meter cause one headlight to not come on? Turning headlights on/off and not headlights come one LL- similar to resetting dash lights quick fix. Thanks
@Petruccio1881 Жыл бұрын
I don't think that bad combo meter could cause one headlight not to light on

Hello thank you for your video.I have prius 2 nd generation.The Problem is when i go to the gass station when put the fuel to the tank of car it's reject.(by the sorry my english)and also the fuel gauge shows in correct what should be reasons?thank you
@Petruccio18812 жыл бұрын
yes, that is very common problem on gen 2 prius... once I ran out of gas when the gauge was showing 3 cubes. I disconnected 12 volt battery for 10 minutes and now it works fine, also you can calibrate fuel gauge, here is a link - m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lcujadFznbWpqpc.html

Witam. Czy przyczyna takiej usterki jest ten właśnie kondensator który wymieniles czy moze być tak ze uszkodzony będzie inny kondensator?

Hi, capacitors are getting dry when they get old and just fail, that is normal, no any other reason.

What's that goo you're dipping the solder in? Is it flux?

Is there any Difference between SMD and Normal Capacitors in 220uF 16V ? Because they look different. Reply me because i am going to fix this
@Petruccio18812 жыл бұрын
hello, I don't know exactly, maybe it will work, but just buy a regular one
