This growth ETF and this dividend ETF combined are appreciating more than S&P 500 ETF VOO. Retire early with dividends while still having over $2 Million growing in a growth ETF for retirement. These Vanguard funds are the best ETFs I have found for a solid investing portfolio.

The trick is to keep consistency.... Treat the investment as a monthly bill that you can't forget about.. like a car payment or a credit card...And you would be surprised at the influences that try to thwart your mission.. Advertisements on TV.. Regular normal "scheduled" expenses that mysteriously increase like insurance premiums.. even the "buy now pay later" or "trial" promotions that activate suddenly that you forgot about Plan each and every dollar and you will find that you have more

Wow, I'm blown away by this information! It's amazing to hear that you may have found an investment option that could potentially surpass the S&P 500. As a fellow investor, I can definitely appreciate your passion for making investing simple and personalized. The combination of the Vanguard dividend and growth ETFs sounds like a great strategy for stability and potential growth. I can't wait to see how it performs over time and how it could potentially provide passive income through dividends. Thank you for sharing your research and insights, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of your videos!

My wife and I started seriously investing only 15 years ago after we paid off our house. For the last 10 years of those 15, we have put in the max allowed in our 401K's. Before the latest drop in the market we were up to $750K. Now we are down to about $675K. Having a paid for home allows you to really accelerate your savings rate. The earlier you begin to SERIOUSLY save in your 401K, the quicker you will be able to live off of dividends.
@NolanGouveia
@NolanGouveia Жыл бұрын
That’s awesome that you paid off the house and are able to max out your 401k! However, if your goal is to live off dividends and you can’t touch your 401k until age 59.5, I think a healthy balance of retirement funds and non-retirement (brokerage) accounts might be smarter!

My personal strategy is three fund portfolio strategy, except much like you mention in this video I don't believe in VOO, SPY or IVV to get the kind of growth and low volatility I'm looking for. Foundational to me is best of both, delivering consistent growth and protecting against down turns in prices/recession. That to me is VTI. As well as high growth in VUG, SCHG, and QQQM. and high yield dividends and medium growth in SCHD and VYM. Neither of these are doing bad lately and of course SCHD is having difficulty back up but has a good track record. I think you mentioned these in the video in the "new three fund portfolio" video.

ive sorta been doing my own little 4 fund plan though i like this one as vug was one i considered in the past. nowadays, i have an auto investment split between schd, divo, jepi, and sptm. the heavy lifting regarding growth is sptm though maybe eventually a growth fund, but i wanted to start with an index instead while focusing on growing a passive income just large enough to give me some personal relief incase of job loss or other income decreases. hoping to spend any extra funds outside of my passive investing on growing the div checks first before moving into heavier growth.

I have VHYAX, the index fund version of the ETF. It helped this year stave off losses from VTSAX. Its a nice little fund to have if you have one investment company you invest with. The only thing I would say is VOO will still consistently outperform and cost less in management fees. Reinvest your dividends instead of paying taxes on those payments. For the average investor who doesn't wanna do the research or have time, S&P Index (VFIAX or VOO) or Total Stock Market Index (VTSAX or VTI). They are both long term winners.

Great video. One minor thought is that growth and value stocks are cyclical. After 10 yrs of outperformance of growth, the next 10 years generally factors value. Historically small cap value though our performs growth so I may suggest substitutijg the growth for value or using all 3 and rebalancing 12 to 18 months.

Good morning Professor G!! This is an awesome video with some great nuggets of advice or info!! Thank you very much for highlighting the power of these 2 funds vice just doing 1 fund. Since we just paid off our house on Friday, our overall cash supply dropped a but low. So....I think what I could do is after Christmas, put $1000 per month into each of funds. Then by February or March-ish, elevate that to $2500/ month, into each of them. As I have mentioned before, we do have about 150k now in cash and 401k. And, I have my $6k pension. I have generally planned to work till I am 60 (I am 55 now). But...I would really like to scale that back to 2 or 3 more years. Happy Thanksgiving to you!! PS. Are you in SoCal, by chance? It's even easier to beat the S&P with just 2 ETF's: a 500 etf and small cap value etf. The more aggressive you want to be, tilt more to small cap value. Much more likely to outperform S&P with proven risk premia vs. speculative growth which underperforms value in the long run. There is also nothing special about dividends. You don't get anything extra by focusing on dividends specifically, because stock price is reduced by the amount of the dividend. It's like having a $100 stock vs $90 stock and $10 cash.

Interesting! I would have liked for you to comment about Jack Bogle’s long-held view (when he was alive) that the best portfolio was a very low cost, broadbased ETF. The EQQ or the VYM are sector ETFs, as is the VYM.

VYM is not a sector etf
@jean-marcfiliatrault266
@jean-marcfiliatrault266 Жыл бұрын
@@NolanGouveia Hi! I’m sure that you understand my point, but more importantly, that of Bogle. The latter always said to buy and hold a low-cost, broad-based ETF. By “broad based”, Bogle meant “market-wise”. Therefore, an ETF based only on dividend paying companies or alternatively, on non-dividend buying companies, or on small caps or mid-caps only, or whatever other underlying focused characteristics(s) is not what Bogle advocated. For example, the VTI has close to 4,000 US companies, including large, small and mid-caps, and paying and non-paying dividend companies. Take a look at the companies listed in the VYM. If you feel that this ETF is still broad based in terms of market coverage, as per Bogle’s own definition, then Okayyyy!
@NolanGouveia
@NolanGouveia Жыл бұрын
@@jean-marcfiliatrault266 I do agree that a broad based etf should be a part of one’s portfolio for sure! My 3 etf portfolio includes one etf from that category, one dividend etf, and one growth etf. While Bogle says that the best to have is a broad based etf, he is saying this if you’re only going to pick one, and you don’t HAVE to only pick one!

Is there a way to set up that VYM dividend yield into an automatic reinvestment? Or do I physically have to go and purchase more shares of the ETF? Do I also pay trading commissions every time I deposit money into my Vanguard account, or is it just every time I take the deposit money and actually purchase ETF shares? I use Fidelity for my Roth! But looking into getting a separate account to Invest extra
@NolanGouveia
@NolanGouveia 11 ай бұрын
For ETFs and on most investing platforms, you’ll have to manually repurchase. You shouldn’t have to pay any trading commissions or fees to the brokerage itself for depositing money. You’ll pay the expense/fee for the etf itself when you purchase but it’s almost nothing if you are buying like VOO or VYM
