With the shwing I stay close to the slumb pipe. I can hear it when it's going to the hopper. That's just me.

Love running this pump, by far my favorite, it's crazy the situations you can get in with it. One time I did stair pans had the boom up inside the flight of stairs up a flight and a half lol..if you can think it, this pump can just about do it. Pump on! Cool to see something other than a putz 😆 🤣 😂...no offense 😀

We had used square sponges for years (and still do sometimes) until we discovered the round rubberized foam sponge-balls. The squares definitely do have their advantages in certain applications, but overall for what we do, the round sponges are just more practical.

The rollers only wear out of you run them dry. Also I tap my last pipe near the reducer as I suck back, this way you know the mud is out, and when you hear the ring, it is 1 in a half or two stroke more, and I have never lost a sponge doing so. You probably had an air leak in one of the seals.

Too much water in front of the first sponge. Segregation plugged it at the elbows
@ivanfocugyes1139
@ivanfocugyes1139 Жыл бұрын
@@canadianconcretepumper1979 This why is why I had to suck back a sponge it was ust a wet sponge no water prior to it. Then you turn the volume to near zero and suck back slow. Most of the time I water washed, and only had to suck back a sponge rarely. I always pumped iyt back into the mixers too My customers expected it since it left only sand gravel and some cement behind.

@@ivanfocugyes1139 yes, the water in front of the first sponge was the mistake hear. I’m actually surprised however that with this quite favourable boom position, it still segregated like it did.

@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
We sure do. Our rule is literally “don’t leave the yard without one”. They’ve saved my bacon (or at least pipeline) many times. Usually when the sponge gets stuck like this my first action is to stand the boom straight up in the air and try sucking back that way. If that doesn’t work then I’ll throw her in reverse and put the blowout cap on the tip-elbow to assist, if that don’t work I’ll drop the lid down and try to pump the sponge back out of the tip elbow and then try sucking it back again. Last resort is to dump/washout the hopper, fill it back up with water, put a sponge in the 6” high-pressure elbow, and push the boom clean with water. Absolute last resort for me is to start taking shit apart 😂😂😂

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 your 100% spot on in my book. Only thing different I’ll try first is giving it a stroke or 2 forward depending on how far the sponge made it. A lot of times for me it’s enough to jar what has become impacted. It’s always good to have a few tools in the tool box when this situation occurs.

@@MuddyfeetTV That is also a good one which you suggested, bump it forward a stroke or two and then try pulling back again. Only thing I did learn the hard way is that when doing so, I always try and pull a second sponge as well, as sometimes when pumping it forward, a handfull or two of mud can find its way past that sponge and make for a not so pleasent surprise when priming out the morning to follow.

Awesome pump. I am getting ready to run 1. Would love some do and don’t of this pump. To help me out. Can it be primed without being fully extended?
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure it can, but depending on the mix, I'm thinking that using a primer could be a good idea. That being said, I do prime our Putz Z-booms in Z-formation all the time, so I'm thinking that the 31XT non-extended wouldn't be all that much different?
@pumper2597
@pumper2597 Жыл бұрын
True. When you prime in a Z do you push through faster than normal? I’ve been told to go faster so the mud can keep up with the primer?
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
@@pumper2597I still go slow when priming through in a Z. The only time I’ll go a little faster is if for whatever reason my boom needs to be in more of a horizontal position than what I would consider to be ideal (helps to keeps the prime water from running ahead of the concrete. In an Z, as long as the last few sections are down-up-down, slow and steady wins the race.

The truth: it only came half ways back when in the cradle. Chris rolled back to the yard and stuck the first two section straight vertical and it came right back. I myself would have done so right there on site, not only for piece of mind… but also for some great content! 😂

M rock hoppers are much easier to wash out
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
That's what I always figured as well, but my first hand experience with the Schwing brand is extremely limited. Seems logical that the smaller hopper would be quicker/easier to washout, but I do see what Chris is saying in reference to the longer discharge outlet of the M-rock hopper requiring more water to get the valve itself clean. We have a couple of Putz units in our fleet which have the optional high-pressure back end which uses a longer/smaller diameter outlet, and it definitely makes for a bit of a pain getting the S-valve clean.
