Thanks for an excellent review and video. I bought the Powerfly FS4 Gen 2 recently as it was on a 20% discount at my local Trek dealer. Even though it has only a 500Wh battery, I can comfortably commute 36 km every day, with two very steep climbs en route. I am 63 years old. I love the bike, and my only qualm is that the Suntour rear suspension feels quite harsh, despite trying various settings. It seems to have an off-road bias, which makes sense for an e-MTB. I am now looking at upgrading the rear shock to the Rock Shox SidLux Ultimate, which comes standard on the FS 9 and hope it would provide a more gentle scope of travel for everyday on-road use. Having said all of that, the Trek Powerfly has changed my life for the better and I enjoy its dual personality immensely… work during the week, and play on the week-end. 😊

Great review - this, plus your previous reviews of the Powerfly, range, convinced me to purchase a new Trek Powerfly 4 - a game changer for me (a “more mature” rider !) - absolutely love it - highly recommend.

probably the best bike review i've ever watched. great drone shots and footage in general. I think Im going with the trek powerfly 4 hard tail as its pretty flat where I live.

Awesome video. Watched this on our 60 inch tv and the drone shots spectacular. In the states the battery must be bigger on the fs 9 compared to the 4?

Nice review! Where are you riding? We are buying two, one for me, a medium and a extra small for my wife. Mine will have carbon wheels and cranks, both tubeless! we live on MARROWSTONE island, near Port Townsend Wa. Love the island live. Broken Spoke bike shop is AMAZING, IN PORT TOWNSEND, ASK FOR PETER! Tell him Hank sent ya! He has all the Trek bikes in stock!

Am looking at Powerfly 4 and FS 4. I'm not a technical rider, Just like to climb and cover trails while being comfortable. How would I benefit from the price jump to the FS 9 ??

Big change for you is going to the 12 speed, definitely a bigger range for climbs. Hard to say if that one feature is worth the big jump.
