Auntie Mabel and her dog Pippin search the garden for Spiky the hedgehog. Mabel recalls the story of how Spiky was injured and taken to St. Tiggywinkles animal hospital.

I used to get night terrors as a child. My mum and dad used to put this on to calm my nerves. They refer to her today as "Saint Mable" :)

I got to see this show when it was being repeated but when I was in year 2 we would sometimes watch Katie Morag on the interactive whiteboard, one of the only half decent kids shows of the last decade. I don't want to sound old, and don't like harking back to how the good old days are better than now, but the stuff they make for kids now is absolute junk, it's all terribly animated (animation is fine, but it should be done well), of no educational value, neither directly not by teaching some hidden moral, and is shouty and just horrible. It also completely dumbs the viewer down as if they know nothing, little kids are cleverer than we give them credit for!

One time, my family and I found a hedgehog in a very bad state in Golden Acre Park, which is located on the northern outskirts of the city of Leeds. The hedgehog was very unwell indeed. We took the hedgehog to the vet, but it sadly later died.

Omg, how they kept Pippin from guzzling that unguarded food I'll never know. This does take me back to my childhood. Poor Pippin would've passed on to the "Rainbow Bridge" by now, though. I would've been about 5 when they released this first episode & I've reached my 30's now, so there's no way she would've lived this long (unless she's some sort of "super-dog"). Makes me feel very VERY old indeed; but also very sad. I'll be cuddling my baby rabbit especially close after watching this... 😭 💭 💔 🐶

I'm 14. When I was younger _my_ programs were on the Beeb between 6 and 10, and 3 to 5. Outside of those times, I quite literally had to *go outside* or watch some CEEFAX.
