COME TOGETHER GUITAR LESSON WITH ON-SCREEN TAB - How To Play Come Together By The Beatles

24/7 Guitar with Howard Hart

3 жыл бұрын

SPECIAL NOTE: Some internet sources site John Lennon as having played the Electric Piano on Come Together. But according to the 2019 Anniversary release of Abbey Road, it was actually Paul McCartney - not Lennon or Billy Preston. Whoever played it... it rocks!

You're right about this being a "classic" Beatles tune. It has a great groove a really, well what was then, a really innovative mood and timbre to it, it is really something special. I used to play in a band with a keyboard player who played an old Fender Rhoades and I've always loved the sound. They are like no other keyboard sound and can really make a song special or help it if not make it by itself. Thanks for the lesson, it was/is a cool way to start the day.

I think Abbey Road was possibly the finest musical statement they made. They seemed to be working as a band again... and it's interesting that it was actually the last album they made. They were playing and singing at the top of their game during this period. It's always nice to go out on a high note :-)

You’re a great teacher. Would you give lessons? Also Billy’s piano sounds like a Wurlitzer to me. Music History-I don’t think the Rhodes was out yet or well known at least.
@247GuitarwithHowardHart
@247GuitarwithHowardHart 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you... As it turns out, I think it might be Paul on the keyboard! Billy is seen playing the Rhodes in the Let It Be film, so I'm guessing it was relatively new - And you're right... probably not well know yet?

Great tune, tunes like this are what set them apart, they constantly evolved, also having 3 great writers helped, and they never showboated or over played
@247GuitarwithHowardHart
@247GuitarwithHowardHart 3 жыл бұрын
I agree... Their evolution was nothing short of amazing. And Abbey Road seems to me like the 4 of them at their peak as both writers and musicians :-)

At this phase of The Beatles George was I think struggling to have a voice. But if you watch the Get Back series you understand that it was George's idea to have Billy Preston come in because he felt they needed a different voice. And so the success of Abbey road I think in many ways goes to George. Maybe the breakup wasn't such a bad thing after all. Could anyone imagine The Beatles becoming stale?
@247GuitarwithHowardHart
@247GuitarwithHowardHart 2 жыл бұрын
I agree... plus Get Back really shows how much he contributed to the big picture. It would never have been the same without him

@@247GuitarwithHowardHart So much for Yoko being the devisive siren she was portrayed to be. But you know when the media decides to attack someone they often go after the wife. Yoko was clearly so chill throughout Get Back. Thank you for all you do, Howard. I learn a lot from you.

Lennon used Chuck Berry’s You Can’t Catch Me for Come Together. wpdh.com/the-beatles-come-together-was-stolen-from-a-chuck-berry-song/ The title came from Timothy Leary’s campaign for CA Governor.
