I’m a nail tech and normally we wash people’s hands before applying the dipping powder so it isn’t unsanitary. I also believe if people think this is unsanitary there is no point in getting your nails painted because the polish brush will be touching other people’s nails and skin.

The best way to remove dip powder at home is to have two bowls (one big one and a smaller one) put HOT water in the smaller bowl (make sure bigger bowl can still fit inside smaller one so the water/steam can hear it up) then, PURE acetone in the bigger bowl. Enough to cover your nails. Place a 1-2 paper towel in the bowl of acetone. It will help grip the dip powder as your hands sit in there. The hot water helps heat the acetone and activate to eat at the product quicker. Every minute or two run your nails against paper towel it will help remove it. This should be removed within 10-15 min depending on how to thick. If you have gel polish on the dip you must use a 100 grit file to break the seal then continue with removal. Any questions feel free to message me. I am a licensed nail tech

Jasmine Walker Hi, l do my own dip nail at home. I iust have an issue with them lifting, do you think its because l have like a cheap drill? Also l want to self teach myself do you have any advice on where and what kind of drill l should buy?
@_Inmymomera5 жыл бұрын
Teee Chincx if your having lifting your not properly prepping the nail. You must have the nail dry as possible. I do a dry manicure with me E file and use cuticle bits to clean. I also use a nail dehydrator( balances ph also) which makes sure any oils are removed from the nail bed. You have to take a class to learn how to properly use the drill, but I taught myself before I went to school because they teach you basics and just hand filing in school. That’s why it’s good to take C. E classes (continuing education) I recommend investing in a drill because when it comes to nail products and other things that something you don’t want to be cheap with. It’s expensive to some. Kudos is a good brand. Most nail supply store you have to be licensed they have them there. A good drill has 30,000 rpm And doesn’t vibrate.

Do you need to be rubbing the nails while soaking them to remove the dip powder? What I've been doing is filing off most of the powder and the soaking them in acetone with the bowl of hot water underneath and they do NOTTTT come off. I'll be sitting there for like 20 minutes with my nails soaking in the acetone and they will still be hard as a rock. so frustrating.

To remove them at home you have to file the first layer, then soak them in acetone for about 15-20 mins. I place the acetone dish in a larger dish that is filled with hot water to speed up the process.
@_Inmymomera5 жыл бұрын
Also, the whole “sanitation “ thing with dipping into the jar as long as there no open wounds it’s fine. Dipping allows more powder to grab to the base adhesive. Pouring it doesn’t get as much and it’s still touching the persons nail/fingers. You don’t want to waste product. It’ll get poured back into it if the person doesn’t have wounds.
@HookedOnGlitterTanyaSanders5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't pour it back in. Just set aside what you think you might need in a small jar. Then throw away what's leftover from that jar when finished.

Love the new nails .. I just wanted to comment that after soaking you nails , specially if you let them soak for 10 min there should not be anymore drilling on your natural nail bed , if she opens the foils and takes the cotton and scrub it off it will completely come off , no need for more drilling that’s the main reason why dipping powder is great because is less harsh on your nails. Anyway just thought to let you know ..

Removal at home is the same as a salon. Remove all polish and cut down length ... Then use cotton balls/acetone and foil with a warm cloth. Or a bowl of hot water and a bowl of pure acetone and soak in both .. then file and clean.

I found the easiest way to remove my powder and tips was to sand the first shiny layer off, I have a dog nail sander I bout off Amazon, it was cheaper than nail tool. I then proceed with the same process above; cotton, acetone and foil, followed by a light sand and buffing with file, it really is super easy. Go to your local Sally’s and let them know you want powder/acrylic 100% acetone remover. Great video!

I'm sorry but I can't be silent... yes, nail masters from Russia or Ukraine often use this machine, but they use it more gently and accurately for nails! Firstly cuticle should be pushed by pusher, then should be used another cap to clean pterigy and just in the end master should use round cap, not for cleaning, like in the video, but for removing the cuticle) I really advise to watch at least one video of Tatyana Bugriy or Masha Create just to see the difference...

I got dip powder for the first time on my naturally long nails, thinking it was similar to gel polish.. It took me almost 2 hours to completely get the powder off at home. The process consisted of soaking my nails in acetone, filing the layer of polish that came off and repeat. I don't know if I'll ever go back and do dip nails after that experience. It looks nice, but I like changing my polish color frequently, so it isn't the best option if you're like me and like changing your polish every 1-2 weeks. Also, the tech that did mine drilled my nails as if I was getting acrylics, so I has the weird indent on my nails and had to cut them after I got the polish off due to my natural nail being too thin afterward. :-(

(Also a nail tech) BACTERIA CANNOT GROW IN A DRY POWDER. Bacteria grows in damp, warm places. Second of all, you're supposed to wash your hands before you start your service. If techs would follow the procedures correctly, you wouldn't have so many people say all the time "DiP pOwdEr Is UnsANitARy". Half of the time, those people don't even know what they're talking about OR, they don't know how to do dip powder and they wanna keep doing acrylic on their clients bc its "easier". Btw, it doesn't matter whether or not you sprinkle it or dip it when it comes to being unsanitary. If a powder is "contaminated" (which it wouldn't be because its a powder), but say if it was, you're still sprinkling said contaminated powder on the nail and that's STILL unsanitary.
