A few Sundays ago we visited the exquisite Exbury Gardens, situated in the beautiful New Forest, near Beaulieu. Exbury Gardens is a historical estate purchased by Rothschild in 1919 who started the exceptional gardens we see today. We were kindly sent some PR tickets*
There is so much to see and do. We started off having a little walk around seeing all the beautiful rhododendrons, which were huge and bursting with vibrant colours, it was torrential rain at one point but honestly hoods up & seeing all the spring blooms wandering along the trails was so relaxing. The children loved it!
We then headed to the steam train which I think Cass was most excited about. This turns into a Halloween ghosttrain and a Christmas train in these seasons which is amazing. You can sit back, relax and take in all the gorgeous sights as you travel past the rock garden, dragonfly pond (my favourite, I love dragonfly’s) through the tunnel & head back to beginning, a lovely 20 minute journey. They have lots of little statues to spot along the way which was fun.
Exbury Gardens is currently marking its diamond anniversary of the famous Azalea Bowl- 60 years ago it was planted and is currently a stunning, vibrantly coloured hue of reds, pinks, purled & whites, the constant rain we have had has definitely enhanced this beauty.
They are currently running special azalea themed guided tour which are great to do.
We wandered through Witcher’s Wood full of an array of gorgeous ornamental trees and breathtaking rhododendrons which have matured into magnificent heights and colours.
There is a cute coffee shop we grabbed some coffees and ice creams, located in the centre of the old tennis courts. Lovely place to stop for some refreshments.
Another hit with the children is the fabulous play park, & just further along the path there is a log trail for you to climb along. I think the children could have stayed here all day on this!
You can follow along the Lovers Lane path from Witchers Wood which leads you to the stunning Beaulieu River & has some gorgeous views.
Highly recommended a visit we will be returning hopefully with no rain☔️ definitely worth seeing all year round!
