I was a barista, worked opening weekend shifts. I swear it felt like I was running around with my head cut off. Lol that increased with the pandemic as we were the only place opening up at 5am and the hospitals weren't allowed to brew their own coffee in the break rooms. (There are like 4 hospitals in 2.5 mile radius). I liked Case prepping more than anything

As an opener at Starbucks for the past year, it's really fun to see how other people open their stores! I never thought of brewing iced coffee in the larger pitchers like that, we always just do them in cubes (even for opening)! Also, I'm so jealous that you guys actually have a CBS mocha, my store has been lacking one for so long lmao. This job can get stressful at times (weekend peak hours and pumpkin spice/winter launch), but this video made me fully realize how comfortable Starbucks is to work at, especially as an opener. Like, seeing this just made me think "ahh... my safe space" 😌 I feel like it's rare to feel that way about a job lol

I worked at Starbucks for a month and walked out. The training was horrible. The manager admitted she forgot I was there on day one. Left, and I ended up completing all of the online modules. Afterward, it was just a downfall. Zero guidance, no communication. I felt like i was supposed to just know what to do after being shown it once. It made me bitter and affected my performance

Thats really sad and honestly not a unique experience for food service jobs. I worked at Barnes and Noble Cafe and they literally had a printable training list for us. When I was supervisor I printed them out so we had them for new employees but people never used them. You would think people would want to train their coworkers so everything isn't a train wreck. Glad you got out.

We recently had an in store discussion and realized it’s a 50/50 ratio of coffee to ice when making batches of it. (I noticed you put two 4L pitchers of ice, but maybe I saw it wrong 💚). Only suggestions are to ensure it's exactly 2L of iced coffee, the brewer actually makes more than 2L and you have to dump some out. And then just to ice it before you pour it the dispenser OR wisk it afterwards. If you don't, you're last iced coffees you make taste like water after melting all day. Really neat video

I’m pretty new to Starbucks, but was put in a grocery store kiosk (very small maybe 12’x22) and my training was mixed with me helping at the register. Keep in mind this was maybe 3-4 weeks ago, I can’t remember I’m too tired, and the thanksgiving rush was a sight to behold as a little green bean. Needless to say, I’m still making new mistakes each day, and learning a lot of life skills. I enjoy my experience so far and have already gained a wide knowledge of the coffees, the parts to each drink, the customer service, and so much more. It’s only for so many people really, but I think anyone could and should consider it! Loved the video and just how different the environment is!

passion tea with lemonade is good but very tart so if you want to cut back on the tartness you can sub the liquid cane sugar or whatever sweetener the USA uses for vanilla syrup.

i normally get the passion iced tea mixed with apple juice instead of water so I'd get the sweetener from the juice. I highly recommend it.

It's crazy seeing all the opening tasks most stores do because our store makes the closers do everything. All the cleaning tasks and prep is done by closers even though it's dead its the morning at opening.. my shifts are split mid and closing, but I've opened a few times and it amazes me how little the openers have to do 😭 I know it's because my ex manager used to open and she was super lazy and always pawned all tasks to closers.. she had to close a couple times during covid peak because me and the other closer got covid and my baristas said she was running around like a chicken without a head panting and panicking about how there was so much to do lol

Seattle Airport Starbucks has some incredibly fast baristas. They had a counter full of Pick-up Orders and a line out of the store. Somehow we still were able to get our drinks in 15 minutes or less.

true. I used to live there, whenever I'd fly through the Seattle airport there'd always be an impressively long line at the Starbucks. But it moved so fast, they're really talented.

do you have to deal with cash? Plus is there a list of everything you have to make? Or you have to remember it all by heart and head? I hope it’s a list of each item I want to work there

I rarely get good coffee at my local Starbucks (3 within a 2 mile radius) the last blonde I got was cold that was the last straw. I roast my own green beans grind and brew, the initial upfront costs for a decent home roaster were a lot (ikawa) but worth it. Great video.

As a former sbux worker, Im amazed with the fact that everything is the same no matter what store it is. I would love to work there again but in another country for sure! I used to love passion tea with 2x lemon, jfc. My worst nightmare? Ppl that freezed the white mocha, omg, it was HORRIBLE to pump it the next day, lmao.
