What a wonderful thing for young people to have heard such beauty that counters the modern garbage with which our ears are so frequently bombarded...

I stumbled on this absolute gem this morning in Estonia and I was moved to tears by the beauty of this amazingly fresh and innocent rendition of Purcell. It reminded me of my youth and the path of discovery of the beauty of the world. It brightened my day in the midst of hysteria and panic over C.

What beauty. Young ladies singing with all their hearts swaying to the harmonies and rhythm of a man who lived three centuries prior. Purcell would have approved.

Absolutely wonderful! I keep coming back over the last several years, to listen to their voices and watch these lovely young women sing with passion and the amazing ensemble playing and supporting the choir. Bravo to the conductor for leading them and bringing them to all 300,00+ of us over the years! Almost brings me to tears. Thank you all.

Speaking as an Englishman who has been aware of Purcell's magic for nearly sixty years I'd just like to say that I was delighted and moved to hear such an excellent interpretation from an amalgamation of young people from another culture. Well done, thanks, an best wishes to you all - keep on playing and singing! Music really is one of the things which binds us!

Purcell's music has always affected me on an intensely personal level, but this incredible performance is truly one of the high points of my life-long musical relationship with the composer (My wife and I made a point to visit his grave last summer when we were in the U.K.) My compliments to these inspired vocalists; we can see the joy of their own performance on their faces. And compliments also to the wonderful instrumentalists. And to think that I found this on You Tube by accident!

There aren't sufficient complimentary words in the English language to do full justice to this performance. I'll just write - truly superb.

I have no idea where this event took place, but the young women making up the chorus were brilliant. Their voices have power and dramatic variation and they sung 'sound the trumpets' without trumpets and in the end I didn't notice. Great performance.

This was for me the first time to hear Henry Purcell's music, how enthralling and beautiful, such committed and enthusiastic artistry. Thank you to all these lovely young people, may your lives be fully and richly blessed, each and all.

Wonderful to hear this modern rendition of Purcell's great ode. I was brought up on Alfred Deller's prformance from the 1950s, I could never get these tunes out of my head and used to sing them aloud while driving my car. This all- female choir is superb and the otchestral playing sensitive and vigorous. So glad I found it.

This is one of the first Baroque masterpieces that I listened to closely and repeatedly, with the arias sung by the greatest countertenors of the last 40 years. And I am so impressed and moved by this performance. It all - music - still lives.

Everyone is clearly enjoying every minute of the performance, including me. A nigh on flawless rendering, the singing is so relaxed and full of joy. You all deserve an award of some kind, congratulations all round.

As a student of baroque music, i've heard this piece at least a hundred times in a variety of performances, live and recorded- and none better in its total aesthetic success than this one, the arrangement is good but the discipline, enthusiasm and special quality of the young women's voices make this really exceptional . What an utterly charming piece! Purcell is best with a twinkle of joy as well as mastery and these girls hit the nail on the head with their fresh and haapy style.

I have rarely enjoyed Purcell so much . . . and I'm sure Henry Purcell himself is smiling in some musical heaven (and not a little flattered and amazed). You girls sang with such commitment and obvious pleasure. And your English diction was excellent. I could hear every word. I was seriously impressed. I am an Englishman who has known (and sung) Purcell practically all his life. My very first experience was the composer's opera 'Dido & Aeneas' (composed for a girls' school in Chelsea in about 1683). It was deeply touching to hear a Portuguese choir of young women sing the not-so-young music of my own country. Thank you. And give my love to Lisbon! A great city which I hope is coping well with the current pandemic (Purcell, as a boy, would have lived through the terrible London plague of 1665).

And no sheet music or words either. Loved the orchestra, too, particularly the wind and continuo. The rehydration stops were cute.

What a compellingly authentic sound and period-adherent performance! Beautiful, united chorus. This is gorgeous Purcell-I was transported to the waning Northern Renaissance and a Europe stumbling out of the Wars of Religion into the great advances of The Enlightenment, which included polyphonic music regulated by old contrapuntal parameters animated by the new major/minor tonal system. Purcell was the pioneer of Common Practice we now venerate in lovely performances like this!

The performance of the choir is absolutely stunning. You can feel the joy intended by Purcell in every piece. I love the original composition, but I tend to like this rendering for female choir even more. For the orchestra: I liked the basso continuo players, they harmonize well with the choir at all times. Only the strings do not meet the level of the other performers. And that's the best I can say about them.

Wonderful choir and orchestra. Henry Purcell is not well known musician even he was a great musician, perhaps shadowed by Haendel. The first piece of music I listen to H. Purcell the music for the funeral of Queen Mary. Thanks for giving us this concert.
