2:18 Cancel culture matters almost exclusively to people who are obsessed with Twitter. The percentage of people addicted to Twitter is actually small, nationally. The fact that so many people care so much about what stupid people say blows my mind.

That's because there's more than one thing happening. There's the 'noise' of online "mob drama" (justified or not) and the idea of 'we've silenced them' and then there's the real world of people actually being fired or charged for, for instance, sexually assaulting someone in the workplace.

@@Tao_Tology On top of that are the people who either were on their last chance or had bosses looking for an excuse to can them when they said the comment that got them "cancelled". Roseanne Barr's the poster child for that; ABC was only ever willing to rehire her in the first place because Sara Gilbert went out on a limb for her and told the brass she would put up with Barr's BS so they wouldn't have to.

Ya, we keep trying to change the external world like that’s going to make us happy. Get your basic necessities met of course but after that there is diminishing return on happiness. The feeling of being discontent is coming from within. Stop trying to chase the end of that rainbow. Its just part of being human but let’s pick on multibillionaire since they are causing so much suffering. Is there ever going to be a point where it’s enough money? Maybe it’s that next million that will do it, billion?. Just always more? Your own happiness depends on the happiness of everyone around you. Improving the happiness of others (and all life but let’s keep it simple) Will have a greater impact on your own happiness than megayachts, mansions and another billion. Could you imagine seeing a drowning child in a river and instead of rescuing them you just walk away and buy another overpriced exotic sports car that you don’t need? Now imagine that kid is a starving homeless person and that car is private jet. No amount of earthy pleasures is going to fill that void. The call is coming from inside the house. I can go into using limited resources in a wise way to alleviate the most suffering possible but it’s already way too long

Remember, these characters satirize ultra-wealthy people. To the ultra-wealthy, "poor" means anyone who has to worry about money. Owning things isn't the point. Yeah, the Wangs own a laundromat and that's a lot more than some people have, but they still have more in common with a bankrupt person than they do with someone born into more money than they can spend in their whole lives.

Second, your lack of ability to comprehend language written above an eighth grade level (probably due to overconsumption of visual media) doesn’t constitute “poor” writing on my part. It seems more likely, to me, that you don’t know what poor means.
