Intro
My passport expires in a couple of months, so I will soon apply for a new one. But before I retire the old one, I flipped through the pages, reflecting on stamps from different countries and recalling wonderful times. The greatest memories were not of castles or capitals, but instead they were cherished God moments.
I recalled an Easter service spent in Spain, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, where a very poor man had saved his money to bring chocolate to all of the church children to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. Another stamp, from Mexico, brought to mind an art class held at a local church for children who had experienced trauma. They were able to paint their feelings while learning about Jesus. I can still picture the vibrant colors they painted after discovering they were truly loved by God. One stamp from the Netherlands reminded me of concerts played there and the remarkable visit we made to Corrie ten Boom’s house, where the Hiding Place was located in World War II. To see the secret panel and know it was where Corrie’s family sheltered Jews and saved so many lives was awesome! A United Kingdom stamp reminded me of a dear friend who was baptized in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland. Many stamps from Canada brought back marvelous memories of our Christian family to the north. One stamp from Honduras caused me to reflect on an unforgettable Christmas Mary Alice and I spent with underprivileged children who were extremely rich in smiles and laughter. Their faces changed our hearts forever.
Every stamp is a beautiful reminder of a loving Savior Who is faithful to guide us on each step of our journey.
