Skater/comic Taylor Clark is merging subcultures. He’s on tour and hitting as many parks, spots and stages as he possibly can. This series documents his journey with interviews of the all the comics and skateboarders he meets along the way.
He created this show as a way of combining all his passions and all his favorite shows. If this show were a meal it would be a “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” burger drenched in a hot “Thrashers King of the Road” red sauce, with a side of “Insomniac with Dave Attell” curly fries on a served bare handed in a and hospital waiting zone.
On this episode Mark Normand (late night galore, specials everywhere, podcasts, tours, Amy Schumer, etc. Links on his site marknormandcomedy.com) and Taylor go skate the Duane Reade ledges in the financial district of Manhattan. They speak on the similarities between skateboarding and comedy, they talked about other stuff too, like topics and issues of interest. Guess you need to watch the episode to unveil the finer details of their conversation. I will tell you this though, the two of them are hilariously unfiltered, and they walk away with landed tricks. Pedro helped.
They performed at The Arrogant Swine in Bushwick Brooklyn May 19 2021.
Who is Taylor Clark?
Taylor was a sponsored skater for years until he made a terrible career move and started doing stand-up comedy. Ten years later he had a family and nearly quit both comedy and skating. Instead, he tripled down on comedy and began carving out a career.
He got into some prominent comedy festivals. (Seattle International Comedy Contest and Laughing Skull Comedy Festival)
Then he recorded his first live album called Addictive Tickle. (available everywhere)
Since he missed being a part of skating, he promoted his album with the intent of doing a skateboard themed comedy tour. He put the album out leading with his jokes about being a skater and immediately got interviews in not only the illusive @ThrasherMag, but also @lowcardmag and even @garyvee s @atballplayers interviewed him for his ability to find a niche and market himself successfully.
@ThrasherMag interview
He now resides in Everett WA with his wife and son and can be seen touring the country, and heard on his podcast “Addictive Tickle”
Thanks to Tyler Hart, Ben Oleynick and Hayley Malin for all their help in New York. Special thanks to Taylor’s family, his son Luka James, his wife Karina Martins, his mother Fawn Clark, his father James Clark, his brothers Thomas Clark, and Joe Clark. You guys are the best and I-… I mean, Taylor, could never have done any of this without you.
