You can buy a passport from many countries, that will still be cheaper than the cost of sending migrants to Rwanda. Nevis & St Kitts passports are around £100K!

Prohibition and the war on drugs are such successes, that I can understand why they want to extend this to cigarettes. It is not like there is already a lively trade in illegal cigs, is there? What we need to do is to investigate and address why people are using substances. When I was working as a tutor in the prison system, most women had been incarcerated due to drugs offences. And most of them had taken drugs as self medication.

At the bare minimum, they're doing it differently this time in the hope that the problem last time was taking as l things away from people rather than stopping them having them in the first place, but I think that they very much underestimate the number of underage smokers that there already are.

@@billyfox6368 Prohibition is prohibition. It does not work. What works is addressing the reasons why people drink/smoke/take drugs...But that take a lot of effort, it is complex and not as easy to understand and sexy as saying "We'll put an end to cigarette smoking".

I don't like that Mercer guy, i think he's bad news.. something about him says "ticking time bomb" "one nervous breakdown away from a violent coup attempt".
