So when I was 18, I went and got an entry level job at an up and coming company. I worked their for 2 years. I went above and beyond. I was the hardest worker they had. Then they sent the majority of their business to Malaysia and laid me off. And I had to start over. Only 2 years. No big deal. So then I went and I got a better job with a larger company. I worked their for 5 years. I worked harder than anyone else. I really was intent on being the best. And then they passed NAFTA, and sent all their work down to Mexico and laid me off. And I had to start over again. And 7 years of my life was down the toilet. And my job experience didn't get me anything. I couldn't get a higher paying job because of it. This "start in the mailroom" nonsense is how someone who has never had to actually work thinks that you get ahead in life.

My funny bone is still in recovery mode from such high level comedy.

As a person who is 20-something, I 100% worry about being able to pay off medical bills when I'm 70. This doesn't include the fact that I've already racked up over 8000 in medical debt at my age. College would be nice but its not what keeps me from dying from preventable illness.

At this point, I literally got a small shot of adrenaline when I saw a Majority Report video about Dave Rubin.

I graduated from Stony Brook University with two Bachelor of Science degrees in the late seventies, when tuition, room, and board was $2,000 a year. My part time job covered college. My master's degree at a private university was under $7,000 for tuition and books. These costs are around seven to twelve times greater today. There are many important fields, as teaching and social work that require degrees, but not acknowledged for paying good salaries. Medical school can cost over $200K. I have friends in their forties and fifties still paying back their student loans.

I feel like it's a miracle that Miller still gets work.

I have heard that Denis Miller 'joke' but used around Europe about Millenials going out for brunch and having avocado toast because they can't even see a way to get onto the housing market. The point being they are priced out of opportunities for development older generations had. It was used to show inequalities have stretched and how the younger generation have not had it so good. His takeaway is to say more people should not go to college and less people should educate themselves. This is the economic 'car wash problem ' where now it is cheaper to employ workers to clean your car than use an automated car wash. So cheap labor is the problem and not the solution because economies grow by becoming more efficient by development. We can't service all that past debt unless we become more efficient and stoking the fire with cheap labor is the problem. So more people need to go to university to develop better efficient means of production not less. He is a horrible odious selfish prick

I didn't go to college mainly because of the cost. I went right into the workforce in a job I hated and developed a disdain for work due to how awful that job was. My entire life I wished I had gone, and the costs just kept going up so going back seemed stupid at the time. Eventually I had a child and landed a decent job that I felt less underpaid snd that I enjoyed to a degree. But I still wish I could have gone. I used to love school when I was younger. I'm curious about a wide variety of jubjects. I find myself watching lectures and talks from intellectuals.
