@OriginalYithian I think what CineRoll meant was that as air temperature increases globally, the Arctic glaciers start to melt and the cold air is released, propagating waves of cold air across, which is why we also get these extremes in weather.

Executive summary: "Global annually averaged surface air temperature has increased by about 1.8°F (1.0°C) over the last 115 years (1901-2016). This period is now the warmest in the history of modern civilization. The last few years have also seen record-breaking, climate-related weather extremes, and the last three years have been the warmest years on record for the globe. These trends are expected to continue over climate timescales." Some woman on TV: "We've just had the two coldest years ever recorded," or whatever she said.

"Global annually averaged surface air temperature has increased by about 1.8°F (1.0°C) over the last 115 years (1901-2016). Which is far less than predicted by Models. d32ogoqmya1dw8.cloudfront.net/images/usingdata/datasheets/surface_air_temperature_global.png The global average temperature has been increasing since the Little Ice Age ended. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/28/Sunspot_Numbers.png Man made Co2 was of no consequence before 1934. Yet it has been warming at about the same rate since 1715. Largely following the suns activity. Warmest years on record for the Globe? Lets look at the last 5000 years, which still falls within recorded human history. wattsupwiththat.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/d1a5b-interglacial2btemperatures.jpg Data from this Peer Reviewed study. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0277379199000621?via%3Dihub The warmer periods are called Climactic Optimums because human civilizations flourished during these much warmer periods. According to alarmists we will suffer dire consequences because of the tiny uptick at the end of that graph unless we let the UN "redistribute" the globes wealth. "Have doubts? Then listen to the words of former United Nations climate official Ottmar Edenhofer: "One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole," said Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015. So what is the goal of environmental policy? "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy," said Edenhofer. For those who want to believe that maybe Edenhofer just misspoke and doesn't really mean that, consider that a little more than five years ago he also said that "the next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world's resources will be negotiated." Notice there is no mention of reducing? Just "redistribution"?

Do these people ever look at scientist's salaries? Do they know how much a researcher makes? Not very much, really. They would make much more if they turned around to work for companies. With the exact same education, one can make twice as much working in the private sector. But if you work in the private sector you play by the company's rules. You don't publish when they tell you not to and you publish when they tell you to publish. Even if you are a person with integrity and do not make false claims just to please your bosses, the fact that they can decide when you are allowed to publish your research can have huge consequences. These people are so blinded by the way they sell themselves for money that they can't even believe that someone would reject job offers with higher pay just to have more freedom in the kind of work they do and on making their results public. Researchers all over the world do just that. In a way, most are idealists. They care more about the rating of the journal where their last paper was published than about their house of food or clothes. Never in the history of humanity has a scientist been jobless because there is nothing to research. There is always something to research. Curiosity is in our DNA and scientists are the most curious of all humans. When a scientist answers a question s/he creates two more questions. The only people directly profiting from their stance on climate change are the people who deny it.

VOX has a good video about how CNN treats news like sports (to drive ratings up). It's all about ratings to them, not content.

Well trump may think it’s not happening but it is here in Australia. Bushfire season longer more intense. Temps unhnheard of,wine producers buying up land further south as traditional growing areas becoming less viable. Crocs moving south pelagic fish turning up in strange places. Massive beach erosion. Tree flowering earlier. Nah nothing to see here.
