I love her! She is somehow mean and sweet at the same time and I'm all for it. And I totally agree why Asians tend to not keep their ethnic names, I mean I get it but still. Also, she's so hilarious calling it "little lives" if it doesn't include BTS 😂

It's not just Asians. One of my coworkers Polish name is Zoltan and when he immigrated it somehow became Paul. Zoltan is so much cooler.

100% agree with you on Chinese names! They are beautiful and should never be Westernized. Whenever I meet a Chinese person that I know was not born here in the USA, and they give me their name, I always ask for their actual Chinese name and tell them I will learn it and call them by their real name. IDK if it's a confidence thing like you said. Is it more about fitting in? or is it about not wanting to deal with trying to teach people how to pronounce it properly? (some are not so easy) but whatever. I agree. beautiful names and they should not be lost. Keep the beautiful Chinese names! Is Andrea your real name or a nickname?

Yeah. I completely agree with your position on 'names' of new immigrants and the ridiculous feeling of obligation that many if not most feel to 'Anglosize' their birth names. It's not only completely unnecessary... it's also incredibly stupid. Anglo Saxons are not Indegenous to this Country. If you have some weird desire to change your name, you may as well honour our Indegenous People and choose an indigenous name. I live in Toronto. I actually grew up Markham though. So, I always had tonnes of Chinese friends. Pretty much all of my Chinese Peers used English Names... Often very obscure and silly sounding ones. One of my best friends growing up never bothered. Him and his two younger sisters used their birth names. The only exception was his older brother. So... it was actually kinda funny. You had Chan Mun Fai, Chan Yun Fai, Chan Gar Fai and Tim! Which one does not belong? But... yeah. I would strongly insist that people don't fo that sh*t. Canada is a Country of Immigrants. Most of us (At least here in Toronto) LOVE our incredible diversity. This is what makes our Country so Epic! So... Do what you like. I think it's completely unessesesary and ridiculous.

Mainlanders from Asia or Island areas that are close to the mainland seem to have a good sense of humor and relatability regarding that. Although I don't know what it is Filipinos for some reason seem to have a different form of humor. And I don't know what it is although you're right many people that are Asian American always have a British or English name. Although many people that back in the day in the 1980s and 1990s didn't. I've been to England and everybody has the same name. And I'm not actually British. People there say you know why everybody's last name is Smith in Britain is because when the nights went on their crusades the chastity belt that everybody would leave the women with the blacksmith made a second key. Although if you go to the Old world on the mainland of Asia there are many people with the same name too first name and last name. So if people travel a lot and they have an authentic ancestral name that is a last name yet a British first name then you can maybe actually find them.

You have some good advice for your fans and some hmm advice..', such as giving advice about anyone asking someone to calm down when you don't know the circumstances. What if the woman was having a mental breakdown and about jump out the window? I live in Vietnam and many Vietnamese students take English names just for fun or to be more familiar with native English speakers. I prefer them to use their Vietnamese names, probably because I've been living in Vietnam over 16 years and Vietnamese names are easier for me to remember now. You should get your parents to give you a Chinese name if you want. I hope you save these videos as a sort of time capsule and reflect back on them 20 years from now.
