The chefs were tasked with creating vegetarian versions of traditional comfort foods. In addition, following the theme of health and physical activity, the contestants were allowed to grab only one ingredient or cooking utensil at a time, forcing them to run between the kitchen and pantry; the winner received immunity from elimination. The guest judge for the challenge was U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.

I always enjoy seeing Vegetables highlighted in any Challenge. They’re just as fulfilling as any Meat, Fish, or Protein out there.

The judges will throw you out. They can’t go without having their beef and pork in every course, even dessert.

I haven’t eaten meat since I was 4. They may not know, but they know they don’t want to eat meat.

I find it very interesting that when they heard “healthy” vegetarian dish they basically all decided to make low fat, low carb, dishes (and a few were also quite low protein) so low calorie and incredibly imbalanced, thus making them not actually “healthy”. Frankly I think there is massive room for improvement in all of these dishes (I can already think of so many ways of making them better), with the three best being the burger, meatloaf, and sloppy Joe for being satiating and balanced.
