Really good information you put out there.Definitely will be trying some of these techniques oh my dirty comics.Good to know about the magic eraser as that was 1 of the tools I was gonna use to clean the comics. I want to make sure I do not take off the gloss.

If you are very careful and use it extremely lightly, it can be useful for surface dirt, but any soiling that has been on the comic for a long time is where the risk of removing gloss comens in.

Yikes that's a lot of effort mate, good luck cleaning your dirty books, I just look at the dirt as adding character!! haha

If it were quick and easy there would be no dirty comics left to clean!

Good info as always. So using a white eraser doesn’t take off the gloss? I’ve tried that IPA technique on some ink before but it seems to take some of the art color off as well. Maybe I used too strong a concentration. Thanks for these vids buddy.👍

If you use the eraser very lightly it won't take off the gloss, adding pressure to it is where you start to lose gloss. Personally I would rather not use an eraser at all, but sometimes it's the best option. As far as washing comics, when ever I tried it on an early silver age comic I noticed that if you didn't blot it off right away that even distilled water sometimes left very faint stain lines. I'm still working on that technique and I will update when I find a better way.
