In this video I talk about the Agatha All Along Trailer that came out yesterday. It seems like it got a lot of views and was trending on youtube but it didn't seem like comic book collectors cared all that much because there was almost zero movement on the secondary market. That hasn't been the case for other trailers we got recently for Xmen 97 or Deadpool & Wolverine. I discuss in the video.

viewers of Disney/Marvel are extremely apathetic towards the products being put out. The movies are not great, the TV shows are terrible and even the comics are lacking. Having shelled out money before for this stuff, their audience has gone elsewhere and won't come back until there are massive changes (and even then may not come back)

I'm pretty excited for this show. I really dug the trailer, but I've been collecting comics that I thought might be related to this and other supernatural shows for the last year or so. But I'm a big fan of the Marvel supernatural stuff so I'm probably the weirdo here.

You know I guess the Echo series was ok but I really didn't need an Echo series to watch. Same with Agatha. Could this be the first time an MCU offering causes the character key books to lose value? Maybe.

I believe that the show will play heavily into the camp aspect of these characters. And with the specific actors they have enlisted, I think that version of the show could be great.

I miss movie posters. The last movie poster I can remember really liking is the original Jurassic Park movie. Now, movie posters are just a bunch of clip art. Though, I guess it makes sense as movie posters used to have to be good as they were used to sell a movie. Back before the internet, there were lots of times I'd go to the theater, and look at the movie posters to figure out what movie to watch.

Never heard of Agatha until recently on youtube vids. They must be a super hero/villian specific to a limited area of comics. I don't think a lesser character will draw much interest unless fans see a really really interesting hook to known characters most fans actually care about.

I think we have a problem as comic book collectors where we've created an unnecessary co-dependency for ourselves. Like, a trailer drops and our reaction to it isn't fully realized until we see how the comic secondary market reacts to relevant comics...as if the quality and hype associated to a show depends entirely on how much FOMO it creates on ebay. That's not good, especially as we leave the pandemic era behind....which saw comic prices soar to unrealistic levels, while studios pumped out content at break-neck speed. I find it very hard to believe that a large chunk of collectors formulate their opinion of a show completely independent of how said show affects the values of their comics. I'm *mostly* okay with studios creating new characters for their shows for precisely what you said Swag - it ultimately gives them more freedom to tell the story they want to tell. I don't like that it allows them to avoid royalty payments to original creators...but how significant is that in view of a show's overall budget?

As usual you nailed it Swag. Disney is trying to make something out of nuthin. Agatha Harkness was always a tertiary character in FF. Kinda cool but just not at the center of the target. I’ll watch the show. I’ll probably even like the show (I have such poor taste I even liked She Hulk). But no one really cares about this character or this Halloween version of witches. Ooh, so so spooky.

"Why didn't they just call Aubrey Plaza's character Emerald Warlock out of the gate?" - Well, it could be because "warlock" is defined as a male who practices witchcraft. But, with magic involved, I guess anything's possible, right?

I think especially with this series there isn’t a big storyline or anything that fans have been waiting/hoping to see made into live action. If you removed her song and Kathryn Hahn just generally being amazing the character itself just served as a stepping stone to fast track bad Wanda and would be another of the totally forgettable Disney+ series villains. If they want some excitement make shows with loved characters and stories that people have been waiting to see live action.

I'll check it out, but if it's whack I probably won't finish it...I never thought the day would come where I would not finish an MCU product but to this day I never finished watching MS MARVEL and ECHO and I never even attempted to watch LOKI season 2, I just could not get thru them I have been let down too many times MOOK KNIGHT was a struggle for me to finish. That FF#94, I got that book cheap a year ago , keys having been dropping a lot in the last few years ETERNALS #1 is practically a steal now, I passed it up a few times only because I have no interest in THE ETERNALS...I wasn't gonna buy a key just for the sake of buying a key.

I really don't understand it. It's as if the Disney/Marvel/StarWars machine is taking us collectors/resellers for granted. Are we going to watch these shows? Most likely. Are we going to complain about them? Definitely. Especially when they don't add the value to the books we own. So much for that condo on the moon. I guess that I'm burdened with going back to collecting books and titles I personally enjoy. I really hate it when the big machine looks after it's own interest above mine own.

For the same reason listed companies don't innovate, studio's also have investors and don't wanna take risks, which is why focus groups and formulaic "cookie cutter" approaches are the preferred method of working. Despite middle aged white guys complaining about female empowerment or diversity... companies like Disney and Nike have massive research teams... and their findings show which way the wind is blowing. Despite the the current political climate and short terms losses as they reposition themselves, these companies have their sights set on 5 years, 10 years... 20 years down the road. Of course they'll continue to fine tune their products, but the name of the game is to maximize profits.

All the feedback I have seen for the show is that people are pretty excited by the horror aspect. But why are we comparing a character that appears in like 10 comics a year to X-men or Deadpool? Doesn't seem like apples to apples. Also, this whole time with the MCU, everything is an adaptation, not a 1 for 1 with the 616 universe. People like new spins on old characters.

Who cared about Guardians before the movies were released, no one. Who asked for RDJ to play Tony Stark, no one. Marvel has to take risks, they will be hit or miss. You don’t like the character then don’t watch it.

Disney/Iger/Kennedy have been pushing a woke agenda across the MCU, SW and classic Disney films for several years now and it has been devastating to collectors and audiences. The whole fan base for Marvel started dying with the last Avengers film. Who knows how many years it will take to wipe this crap off the table, it’s tragic

Trailer says it is a Halloween season release so it seems appropriate. Werewolf by Night was the movie last Halloween and Agatha this year.

No one wants to watch this. It is a D- tier character to begin with no actual fanbase behind this project. People want Deadpool and Wolverine and then X-Men, then X-Men vs. Avengers (Original cast). That is what the people want.

Not gonna judge a show by it’s trailer. But this is another piece of evidence that MOST marvel fan boys really dislike female leads. It’s a sad fact. If they ain’t triple D’s and bubble butts.. it’s trash & not gonna waste my time. The male ego 🤦🏻 And in my opinion most marvel female leads shows are well done. Wakanda Forever, Wanda/Vision, Black Widow, She-Hulk, Jessica Jones, Echo, Agent Carter and Captain & Ms. Marvel. Madame Web, Marvels and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are so, so. But much better than these X-Men 3-4, Iron Fist, Spider-Man 3 w/Toby & 2 w/ Andrew, Thor Love and Thunder and the 1st and 3rd Fantastic Four’s and Morbius are awful. I love that marvel is not afraid and are willing to push the narrative. They can’t be all Endgame level and not just men in tights.

Swag who hurt you? You are to young to be this cynical old man. 😂. I would argue a few points. First it is a direct sequel to WandaVision. It picks up right after. Secondly, she is a borderline villain, if not out right. She is not a straight adaptation of her comic counter part, which I appreciate. I love Hahn. She is fantastic as Agatha. I am looking forward to this as opposed to Echo. Next why bring in new characters? Can we start with the very first in the MCU? Coulson. Do I need to say more? He is not the only one, but for the length of my response I will not go on.As for the cost of comic speculation, a lot of specers have bailed. The big money has departed for other pastures, so small fry have the opportunity to pick and choose. As the economy goes so to does the market as you well know. Anyway I hope you step back and just enjoy some things for a bit. I won't even get in to your Star Wars analysis! 😂

Agatha has a chance to be good if the writing is decent. People know the FF film will be a massive flop so this show doesn't benefit from any anticipation. That isn't all that surprising. Aubrey Plaza is gold so they got me. Agatha is a witch and magic shows do better than magic comics. The bar is so low that even an average show will be an upside surprise. I'm anxiously awaiting Kraven. That could be really good.

Oh, boy. I envy you; I truly do. It must be nice to have that level of optimism for Kraven after all the other Sony non-MCU Marvel movies of the last several years have been so bad. I might be able to grant you the first Venom movie, but apart from that, ... ouch. And Kraven being consistently moved back in Sony's release calendar doesn't exactly bode well either: January, 2023 to October, 2023 to August, 2024 now to December, 2024. The last comic book movie to get bumped this much was New Mutants, and once it was on screens, it was easy to see why. I am hoping for the best from Kraven (because, honestly, it can't be any worse than Madame Web), but my expectations are super low.
