Well, to be more detailed, it's actually a very old feud that stems from an age old war over land where the Inklings took literally every good piece of real estate the country/continent/planet had to offer, and forced the Octolings to live off whatever barren scraps were left. As a result the Octolings have virtually no resources, and the Inklings have tons. Which led to the theft of the Great Zapfish which powered Inkopolis.
