I don't usually read graphic novels, but I will always recommend Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. It's an autobiography about the author's childhood growing up during the Islamic Revolution. It's not an easy book to get through, but for me it was exposure to a world I didn't know anything about.

Persepolis is really beautiful. I didn't have time to recommend all of my favorites in this video, and I was sad to leave Persepolis to a future video, but I definitely plan on including it at some point in a part 2

The Sandman ALWAYS! It's an older series (1989-1996), pretty long and divided into several arcs, but it is finished. It's more adult-oriented and literary sort of fantasy that takes place in the DC universe (cameos from guys like Martian Manhunter and John Constantine and places like Arkham Asylum) but you don't need to know the main DCU to enjoy The Sandman.

I read Nimona when it was still online as a webcomic and really loved it as well. I've also read the first volume of Lumberjanes and I'm looking forward to catching up, it's just so fun :) I read the first trade of Bitch Planet last year and liked it but I was really confused by the premise at first (I went in not really knowing anything and based on the title I really thought it was going to be about aliens for some reason) I'll probably get the second one whenever my library gets it. I'll probably pick up Giant Days soon because I really like slice of life type stuff :)

I loved the first volume of Giant Days so much! I really need to continue on with the series. I've already bought up to volume 4 so I just need a good day to binge them! And I also really have to read the Avatar comics soon! I need to know what happened to Zuko's mom!

I have read most of the Lumberjane series. I need to catch up. I'll be honest though when Noelle Stevenson left the series my enjoyment of it went down slightly. She has a new graphic novel series coming out soon (hopefully starting this year) called "4 Wizards" and it sounds really good.

Yeah, I'm a little sad about the quality of the series as it has gone on. It is still fun and enjoyable but I feel like it has lost a little of the joy that it had initially with the original creators.

Well I just added Giant Days vol 1 to my library list. was the only one on your list I haven't already read. I just reread "Funhome" and "Are you my mother" this month and I wish the Broadway show would tour to little old Norway or even England so I could catch it. Not the same watching clips online.

I would highly recommend Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol. Up until a year or two ago when I started doing reading challenges, I never read graphic novels. This was the first one I read other than one that was required for school (The Tale of One Bad Rat), and I loved it immediately! It's about a girl named Anya who befriends a ghost, and soon discovers that the ghost is not quite the kind of person that Anya thought. Very well-done story.

You reaaaally need to read Batwoman -- I recommend the "New 52" series. While it is a superhero story at its core, the relationship between the hero and her girlfriend is so cute and also do dramatic. 💖

I recommend Becoming Unbecoming by Una. Taken from Goodreads: "A devastating personal account of gender violence told in comic book form, set against the backdrop of the 1970s Yorkshire Ripper man-hunt." Super impactful read.

Have you heard of Truth: Red, White, and Black by Rick Morales and Kyle Baker? Or really anything Kyle Baker does? Truth is a great Marvel comic that uncovers the harsh, white-washed history of the truth serum that created Captain America. It is brutal and heartbreaking and one of the best works I've ever read.

I loved Nimona! That is a comic book everyone needs to read! I loved the romance between the two guys, that was cute. Nimona was funny, I liked her character. I've also read Lumberjanes and This One Summer. I loved silly summer reads like that. It makes you feel like a kid again having summer fun! There is one comic book I read recently that I loved so much, Space Dumplins! YOU should read it!! And Giant Days is hilarious! I've read volumes 1 and 3, but now reading 2!

I've read and loved both This One Summer and Fun Home, and REALLY want to see the musical some day (cry). The other book I love by the Tamakis is Skim. I think it's pretty remarkable and has a lot of the same laudable characteristics as This One Summer but with a much darker aesthetic/tone/etc. It was really formative for me. Then there's Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi which, if you like graphic memoirs, I think you would really enjoy (if you haven't read it already!!)

I have a few (A few are manga, but they are really good ones). Persona 4 Manga's (one character isn't open about it, but mostly it is implied and (it was also a video game) the fans and voice actor (in the first edition of the game) say he he is in fact gay; he's amazing and really turns heads on the gay sterotype. Also there is a tv world and murder. Ms. Marvel (with Kamala Khan). A great superhero juggling that life and her Pakastani-American life as well. (Love it). Runaways (Marvel Comic Series). It is like one of my favorite marvel comics. Children of supervilians and black main character and gay girls. Kevin Keller (Archie Comics) Love him and it's really slice of life, positive gay guy. The Last Of Us (the Comics) is about a zombie apocalypse, but i know it's about two girls who are in love, but I don't know if it is in the comics (it's in the game it's based off of, but I haven't read the comic, but I think you should check it out.) Durarara (a manga series) One crazy story I can't actually explain. Let's just say there is a dullahan in it and it's a really dark series.

Have you read any manga I really like this form of book and it's one of the only ways that I can read more contemporary books. I just finished volume 1 of Orange and it's a beautiful series involving time travel and a group of friends trying to help save a friend from commuting subside with the help of letters from their future selves.

The simple fact that you apologize for recommending LumberJanes and then say "I know, I've already talked too long about it" means it SHOULD NOT BE ON YOUR LIST. PERIOD! It's so bad you know you're going to take shit for recommending it but you can't help yourself. Rather than try to push shit, realize it's shit and move on. I'm done. If that's how you start your list, nothing else from you could be worth my time. Downvote - quit.....BYE.....thanks for wasting my time.
