@ihate names Yeah, not all super beings work the same way. Yes the Beyonder and Galactus are energy, but they don't get their powers from genetic mutations. Now maybe future Franklin Richards could transition into a being of energy, he certainly has the power to do that, but that would take an effort by him to change using his original powers first to alter himself. Probably the implication of what happens to future Franklin Richards when it is implied he will become the Galactus of the next universe. Also, I think Gambit's power would work to kill Galactus because there is already so much energy present to excite. If something doesn't have as much energy to begin with then he's more restricted to how much destructive force he can manifest out of them. A full conscious Galactus would probably be able to counter Gambit's powers because he has far better control over his own energy, but in this state Galactus didn't have any control over his own existence anymore, so he was just a big ball of potential energy.

But then if the body was copied he should at least have some measure of abilities or it was a poor copy😬

@@tipman525 It depends on how the techno-organic material made to create the copy works. We don't really know if it copies DNA at all. Also even if it does sorta recreate some of the DNA doesn't mean it would actually copy his powers. The DNA relating to his appearance or personality traits may not have anything to do with his mutant powers.

Plot. That's really all there is to it. If the Silver Surfer and Thor can be hijacked by power-cosmic Brood then Logan should be just a space zombie. But at the same time - the Brood do not have the capacity to merge with or reformat Galan to even start this scenario. The Brood can't survive a direct encounter with Galactus and are unlikely to be able to convert Galactus like the Ultimates or Doom did into something else Via tech. The actual concept of a brood-power cosmic disease checks out on how it would infect so many of these heroes - but getting to it is hard to imagine because it involves a level of intellect the Brood don't have access to.

considering wolverine has burned out his healing factor before. its quite possible his healing has been reduced to a minimum. and the reality warpers are mostly focusing on staying alive like the rest of them. though this is not an excuse for a rush job of a story but i can see it happening

@@avalanche1990 I just thought it was funny how throughout this entire story they've been wielding weapons made from dead people. And two of the survivors are the kids of the Fantastic Four, plus Spider-man isn't stupid either. So you would think between the three of them they could create some kind of machine which could act as artificial eyes for Wolverine. But I do agree with you that the story does feel heavily rushed.

Maybe it's in an effort to try pin down and define who she is because now she's more in our popculture's collective consciousness due to her movie. I'm not saying it's good (I still remember Civil War 2). For me personally, she's better when she's a side character in someone else's story like Rogue or Jessica Jones rather than a lead.

@@akumaranjiro Yes I thought she died in the Hive as well. Doesn't make sense that she is the Brood Empress (not Queen). Something had to infect Galactus before Danvers was infected. I have no problem with Captain Marvel being so powerful - the Brood did made her Binary after all which Marvel never really let her live up to except on rare occasions - but she wasn't really in this arc except for the one shot for only two pages really. Looks like they change their minds on her role which I agree is poor planning/writing.

Yeah, but I feel like it’d transform him until he doesn’t need it. Kinda like with Manhattan, with the machine as the genes. Which would be why reality warpers and stuff could like change their bodies and still have their powers. Even if that weren’t the case, I’m pretty sure frank would still have some sort of reality warping power, however small it may be.

If Franklins powers don’t work in the anti mutant technology, then most likely it’s tied to his body.

That is not necessarily true, not all mutants all tied to their genes or DNA. Some mutants can leave their physical body and transcend the metaphysical and still retain their power. Franklin Richards at 4 years old defeated Mephisto in his own realm, Hell. We shouldn't forget that Franklin Richards is more than mutant. You have different forms of mutations, Homo Mutate, Homo Superior, Homo Supreme, Inhomo Supremis, Homo Mermanus, Homo External. Franklin Richards is the only mutant, that is far more than Homo Superior, he comes from Homo Mutated parents who have mutated his DNA further by using the Cosmic Control Rod, with his X-gene is not really quite mutant anymore but god.

Franklin was long-time believed to be a mutant, when in reality his own powers had caused him to subconsciously alter his anatomy to make it seem like he had an X-Gene.

Not so much in Franklin's case. He's connected to a God-Power source that fills his body with the infinite power to do stuff - while other mutants are tied to the same energy - it just offers guy's like Wolverine the capacity to do their thing despite the lack of resources for their body to do it. The question for Franklin is - does he still have that connection despite the new body?

Unless his techno-organic body wasn't made in the image of the original, and doesn't contain his mutant gene

I second this interpretation, since mutant powers are gene based. If the phalanx can replicate DNA, including the X-gene, it would theoretically be possible. However, I don't know if that is the case, or if there is precedence to support this. The mind / soul theory is definitely incorrect though.

Clothier The funny thing about that is Franklin Richards, after he used the last of his stored powers against an quasi abstract extra / higher-dimensional being, couldn't use the gate to re-enter back the island Krakoa - which implies he's no longer has the X-Gene / isn't a mutant anymore for the imple virtue of running out of his God Energy introduced in the Fantastic Four V X-Men series. Adam Warlock and Thanos have their bodies repeatedly destroyed entirely and are reborn / reform with their powers intact. And just to toss that in here - I can think of Patrick Stewarts Xavier popping up at the end of Logan, despite being vaporized in Last Stand by Jean, which also had that post credit scene where he transferred his consciousness into his (twin?) brother's vegetatative brain and again we saw in X Men Apocolypse, Apoc's repeated hijacking of mutant bodies to expand his power-set / while keeping whatever abilities the previous hosts had. I mean- if it was entirely an exercise of "mutant powers are totally tied to their bodies" a lot of these Astral Plane events where Xavier gets totally !@#$ed up as an astral projection probably wouldn't have such an impact on the man himself after. Or hell, Onslaught probably wouldn't be a thing is these powers were purely tied to the being themselves.

@Kurt E. Clothier Look, it isn't just Onslaught that pokes holes in the "its the body, not the spirit / mind!" theory. Rogue's entire power-set consists of taking people's life energy, memories or souls into her and then gaining either some element of or the entirety of their powers. Whether their powers are science based (Wonder Man), divine (Thor, Ares) or just mutant based (every X-Men comic ever). She literally had virtually ever hero's power in her (minus Thor & the Sentry) when she pushed Exitar off the Earth. Mutant abilities aren't particularly limited to their physical bodies in a universe where people can literally be made up of photons.

@Kurt E. Clothier Wonder Man is made uo of ionic energy. He's a lot like Photon in that they're both pure energy that has a pretend human form they themselves create (albeit Photon can become other types of energy, Wonder Man cannot). Rogue, specifically in that instance were she pushes Exitar off the planet with Death-Seed Sentry, had entirely absorbed Wonder Man into her, gaining some of his abilities (but obviously retaining flesh and bone, rather than becoming pure energy) flight, super strength and energy projection, the only downside was, after all the other powers she absorbed into her left her body, her taking all that power into her damaged the control she had over her powers trapping Wonder Man inside her. Now, why am I focusing on Wonder Man? Because that's a situation where we've got a character that is no longer sporting genetics or any flesh for Rogue to genetically make a facsimile alteration. Thor and Ares - its a bit trickier as they have 2 continuities going on in Marvel as to why Gods exist - one being, they're the next set of divine beings after the Elder Gods, with Odin like characters creating humanity (or some part of it with the other Godheads) and the continuity being they're living stories that humanity wills into existence through the energies of the demigurge - both of which are canon and regularly featured in stories in the makn continuity of Marvel. Eitherway, they're not really human. Both genetically and the like. Thor can be cloned - Reed and Iron Man did that, at the same time that version of Thor dubbed Ragnarok was beating into the ground by Hercules during Civil War (?) and by Thor after Volstagg was attacked by that Thor clone. Doom even at one point describes Asgardians as living contianers of the Odinforce (that as long as they lived, he could power his own version of Destroyer). Rogue is able to tap that power from both of them - but its less she bulks out like she would grabbing a Hulk and more of her just getting way stronger. Either way, these two extremes are far away from what mutants are genetically speaking (Magik has some element of mysticism with Limbo, mutants like Bobby can be physically destroyed and yet survive using their power) but powers work on them (and can literally absorb them entirely into her). But besides that the issue is for Franklin, he's not a normal mutants like Wolverine or anyone else in the X-Mansion. History of the Marvel Universe #3 has an adult Franklin Richards at the end of time itself postulate his very existence and that of Galactus are intertwined. Franklin: "We're the balance of the universe. Really, you and I, The Utmost Creator, The Ultimate Destroyer. Would I even have been born had you not existed? Have you been incessantly resurrected I was around? Do we NEED each other?" With Mr Immortal being described by the One Below All to be the universe's back up to Franklin should he not make to the end of all things. Franklin, unlike most mutants, is a mechanism of multiversal evolution. He needs to exist and so he does. Any universe where he isn't is a dead reality at the end of time. Which makes him a little bit more than just an X-Gene and even a bit more peculiar because that X-Gene has seemingly gone away with his powers.

I think SS has to channel the power cosmic to do such things.

I think there were some comic stories that fill in the gap from the end of the show to his reappearance in Justice League but I've never heard much about those DCAU comics.
