Marvel reciting that poem (muslin reference), keep in mind that kamala doesn't know any of them like we as readers do. 2 - she looks like that to prove that it wasn't as amazing as she thought it was, she feels cold in that clothes, it's hard to walk with high heels etc. thats why later she looks like herself instead carol denvers. 3 - tbh, a lot of characters have the same or similar powers between them, nothing new here. 4 - it's been awhile since i read so i might be wrong, but her friend kind of argue that she isn't a hero and thats the cop's job, he only accepts her when his brother is kidnapped i think. However, I do not feel too interested by the character, personally she still just feels like a too much of like a fan girl, reacting rather childishly to her situation. Yeah, I get she's a teen, but I still feel her character is a little cartoonish, if that makes any sense. A good comparison, I guess would be like how many teen anime characters act a little too cartoonish/silly and react not too realistically to usual/dangerous situations. ***** Black Widow doesn't have a large cast of villains. It's accurate, at least. She's normally a guest character (like in some pre-Miller Daredevil'), or on a team (Like the Champions or Avengers) I'm not sure why they did agents of SHIELD with a bunch of nobodies (and Coulson, of course) instead of throwing in Black Widow and Hawkeye. What the hell else is Hawkeye's actor doing? Oh, and the new Captain Marvel movie is based on Carol Danvers, so they are making a superhero movie with a woman in the lead. I like deversity, don't get me wrong, but it really seems like this is aimed at "socially concious teenage hipsters". I haven't read the comic itself, but the core concept of it is just....meh. The problem is they got it right, and we can't look back and laugh like we do at old Luke Cage comics. Luke Cage developed into a character, and not just "The Indestructable BlackMan!" . It's a lot less pandery than "Thor is a title now and the new Thor has boobs!", but still. This is also why the new Squirrelgirl looks like a hipstery webcomic. Teenage girls are a growing demographic. If your character is well-written, it doesn't matter what race or sex they are, people will care about them.

***** You are aware that they are making a Ms. Marvel movie, right? And, yes, it is pandering. It is pandering because it is saying "look, we turned our biggest name heroes and turned them into [enter rave and/or ethnicity here]". They did it with Thor and they are kinda doing here as well. Michelle Rodriguez puts it perfectly, stating (I am paraphrasing here): "It's so stupid. It's all because of this minorities in Hollywood thing these days. But why do you got to steal the white man's heroes. Why don't you just make your own". And she is right. If you want to include people of all races/genders/cultures, stop stealing other heroes's names and identities. Or do you really believe that a heroes identity is completely separate from their gender/race so long as they are a straight white man? My point here is that, no. No one is "pandering to men and boys", instead, comics are meant to be the readers and the writers fantasy. That means that they will automatically make the hero like them in at the most basic of ways. When they start to make changes to long established characters that make no sense - such as with she-Thor - simply for the sake of making feminists happy, it is therefore, pandering. However, it is not pandering when someone just writes the story they want to tell without being forced by outside forces to make changes to that character's identity simply to make people happy. That is the meaning of pandering. When Peter David killed Betty off in his last Hulk comic, it was not because anyone wanted that to happen. When they turned Thor into She-Thor, it was because they wanted to make feminists happy. When people call pandering, it isn't because they aren't being pandered to. It is because the story and character are being effected in ways that make no sense simply to make a small group happy. Any real fan of comics does not care about race/gender. They only care when a change that makes no sense if forced to appease people that had no interest in the comic before. If you do not believe me, then look at the reaction to Captain America being turned black and compare that to the backlash of Thor being turned into She-Thor. Seriously, go and actually listen to people's arguments against she-Thor and maybe you will learn the real reason why so many people hate pandering.
