As someone who loved the san francisco/utopia era of the X-men because of the progress the mutants were making to become accepted, I can't help but fear that the status quo is right around the corner

@@herzfeldjishe has multiple mutants powers and came from a future that she was literally made to kill and fight. It’s not a woman thing. Cyclops was screwed awhile ago. The enemy knew how dangerous he is and took precautions to remove him. That should show how much Marvel respects him.

@@ronniebell2470 True but it's also up to the writer/artist. I'm pretty sure some of the comic variants are trying to match the live action. Not to mention, it's part of the plot. So maybe showing off Ms Marvel's intelliect. But there is a chance Reed also already knew and wanted her to say it.

Rasputin IV could be best described as "She's whatever you want her to be" to fit the plot/narrative.

The x-men only have four types of stories - normal magneto shit - post apocalyptic future -phoenix force controls someone and everything goes to shit -acceptance is finally being achieved....only to be undone quickly thanks to some misunderstanding taking us back to square one Is kind of depressing honestly

That is kind of how I feel about the whole "Fall of X". Krakoa was such an interesting idea (true, it's just a better version of the San Francisco Haven, but it was so expansive and created an interesting mutant culture that it felt vastly different) but the Fall just feels like several past storylines, particularly...the one that was literally happening until the X line was relaunched with Powers/House of X (wherein nearly all mutants are killed and the few remaining are desperately trying to survive). It doesn't just feel like repeating a previous arc, but *regressing* to *the* previous arc.

You want the status quo back? Why? It's played out at this point, let's not go back.

Basically, another mutant massacre happened, and Orchis, with his group, took over the island and is now hunting mutants.

@@CCaster2000yes… and no. Prior to this was an event called Sins of Sinister. In that event, the sinister that we are familiar with (red diamond on his forehead) used his “Moira engine” to manipulate time at a specific point until he could kill Hope. He succeeded in killing her, Emma, Exodus, and Xavier all at once. When they were resurrected, it turned out that Sinister’s goal was to infect everyone with his genes and take over the universe. It worked as most of earth was completely Sinisterized except for Storm and the few remaining mutants from Arakko. It just worked a little too well as the Sinisters eventually turned on him after 100 years, and then each other after nearly 1000 years. Sinister competed against the cyborg Moira and Mother Righteous to reset the timeline, and Moira succeeded. Secretly so did another Righteous. Upon return to the normal timeline, mother righteous used the information to bring Rasputin IV back to the present where she showed the quiet council memories of what happened which leads to a mind controlled Colossus manipulating the council into revealing the events of this timeline to the world and flushing Krakoa’s reputation down the drain.

A few non-mutants were allowed to live on Krakoa, because they were family (Kyle Jinadu, the husband of Northstar, and - just before the fall of Krakoa - Kingpin, the husband of Typhoid Mary) or they proved to be useful allies to the mutants (Juggernaut & Deadpool).

@@jon-nl4zc That either stems out of the fantastic recent run of Daredevil or just the Devil's Reign event, I can't remember - I know the couple end up on Krakoa because of DR, though (slight spoilers, but reading any Fall of X stuff referencing the two might've revealed a bit of that).

That's.... pretty much what marvel always does sadly, DC too but to a lesser extent, i mean at this point the comics feel more like transformers stories rather than heroes stories

Right I'm tired of that.

One problem is that, readers would find "saving kittens stuck in trees" or "stopping a tsunami from obliterating a town" to be boring and cliche. It would also be a reminder of how silly the superhero worlds are, when such powerful beings exist and there is STILL poverty, systemic racism, and street crime. At the bare minimum, Gotham IRL would be almost crime-free cuz the Wayne Foundation + Batman would ensure that no one goes hungry, goes without mental health support, or has any real NEED to commit crimes. A "real world" with the Justice League would be either a Utopia or a well-run benevolent dictatorship. Either way, in a real world with superpowers and literal magic, all these petty human crimes simply would go away. So we have to suspend our disbelief, give the powerful beings villains, and Let Them Fight 😄
