Deconstructing the entire mythos behind the Green Lanterns so that it's no longer being the "chosen one" but rather "anyone can put on the ring. What matters is what you do with it" is a stroke of brilliance. Extra points for making the Guardians awful. Because they are.

Story I've been mulling in my head for a long time about a possible Elseworld... Morality is relative. With uncounted cultures throughout the universe, who determines what is wrong and what is right? Wearing a Ring affects Lanterns more than they know. It actually does a subtle form of brainwashing, imparting the rules and regulations that the Guardians want to enforce. THEIR morality. Lanterns are their law enforcement, pushing their agenda onto all other worlds. Lanterns are the police that keep the status quo of Oa being the center of the universe. Many of the mythos, Krona, for example... are just propaganda. Krona actually designed the lantern rings and knows the truth about the origins of the Oan Empire. He wants to destroy it all to create something better, allowing other cultures to choose their own path. Anyway, something I've been thinking about

My only issue is how easy it is for someone take a ring away from something. I don't think there should be a choose one but I do think once a ring is attached the only the lantern can take the ring off.

I definitely think that this would make a great movie for the new dcu, though my one complaint is that, no matter how absolutely cheesy it is, the oath is so iconic that I hope that they incorporate it in some form of way, even if it means ditching it as a way to power the ring.

I’m definitely not an expert in comics but if Hal Jordan can go from a test pilot to a space miner, then John can go from an architect to an archeologist that discovers an ancient crash site that has a ring and a battery. To throw a site out to find it we can say ancient Aztec and Mayan ruins.

I love how out of all those lanterns that showed up it was the blue physicist that helped Save the Day. I'm like about time someone's actual profession besides Hals for being a pilot became useful while working as a lantern.

I just ordered this from my favorite comic book store and I can't wait to get it. The art is amazing and I like the concept of this Earth One Green Lantern. The Earth One graphic novels remind me of what JMS did with his version of the Squadron Supreme back in the early 2000s

I personally love the original drunk driving and owning up to one's responsibility of the original Hal Jordan intro. But with the new DC universe, getting to space with GL faster feels a whole lot more important.

I love how this iteration of the Green lantern ring seems more like a piece of technology rather than a mystical ring tied to emotion. It really makes it seem more realistic.

I just read both volumes and I can say I like this version of the Green Lanterns probably even more than the main ones. Because in general I like the idea of the GL more than the actual GL because their weaknesses are just so weird. Also being "chosen" is cool but I like the idea that since the GLC is in ruins they can't be picky no more.

This is ok for an alternate world, but it is not my GL. Treating the ring as simply a piece of “tech” that anyone can wield is terrible.
