someone does not need fancy graphics for an awesome game. Generals still my altime favourite with or without the mods and i love playing OpenRA aswell. Chrososphere and Iron Curtain are finaly usefull in OpenRA. RA 1 in Generals would be fun with chronosphere and iron curtain. ;-)

Sorry for the delay, it's difficult to keep track with the notification spam on KZfaq nowadays. You can try Grey Goo, Halo Wars 2 is coming out soon that also lets you construct units I believe. Stellaris is an awesome RTS 4x space game with great graphics. Hearts of Iron IV is a great improvement over HoI3 and there's the remaster of Homeworld and the new Homeworld games.

I heard about a Generals mod for Red Alert 3 it looked promising it looked great and paired with RA3 AI since is pretty good compared to other CnC games (it actually retreats when overrun or notices base defenses , retreats aircrafts if it notices AA defenses and searches a safe spot to strike where AA can't reach it etc) but i don't know anything more about this mod if its finished or not if its working or not

This is a few years late, but Homeworld Deserts of Kharak is a amazing RTS game with a very good story, hell, the whole Homeworld series is amazing

That is the 'official' story said by EA, but if you check out what the alpha testers said in response to the cancellation, you'll get a completely different story. The initial alpha release was a semi-Starcraft copy which annoyed the C&C fans. Over time they made it less Starcraft-like and more C&C like and the alpha players (at least most of them) actually were enjoying the game. The developers were in close contact with these alpha players and it looked like the end-goal was in sight. Then randomly EA shut the whole thing down, giving a strange reason saying "We are not making the game you are hoping for, so why continue?" At this stage, that statement was simply untrue. Some developers (who had somewhat befriended a few of the alpha players) let slip that it was an "internal political conflict" of the company. Perhaps they had violated some law? Or the company was fed up of projects going over budget, and they wanted to make an example out of Victory Games? Or the project manager pissed off the CEO? No one knows the exact truth. One bizarre thing though is that they scrapped the whole department and fired everyone in it. There have been vague (unreliable) rumours that a new C&C is in the making, or at least planned. To be honest, I'll wait until I see some proof of that.

Origin has "ultimate collection" command and conquer (17 games at a prettu good price and contains all cnc games up to kanes wrath) I play it perfectly on my computer with windows 10. If it doesnt work for you, google is your friend. Plenty of forums etc with solutions and help. Good luck mate and enjoy. If you wanna play online you can through gentool. @@bilib1891 Yeah Zero Hour especially was near-future-esque. So thats not the probblem, I think its because the Generals '2' units look so generic. The Zero Hour units were very cool and unique, the Anthrax and Radiation systems are not in any other RTS. Laser and Microwave tanks are unique, EMP rocket batteries too. ECM's and Avengers were also very cool and added alot to the gameplay, they werent just there for the sake of it.

No, but generals should be generals, it shouldn't be made to be like the tiberium universe. I liked how in generals everything was based off of early 2000s military tech with a small amount of advanced sci-fi tech and original unit concepts thrown in the mix (like the laser tanks/patriots and EMP patriots etc) but most of the stuff in generals wasn't sci-fi. Early 2000s and 90s stuff was cool so I like how most things in the game were based off that time period.
