Respect to the Philippines women's football team. No fake injuries, no diving, no BS, just pure love for the game and they tried their best. Iranian ladies from the other night should learn this sportsmanship! Happy for Matildas!

Do you really expect us to play with zero offensive facilities? I'm sure if we had the facilities of you and the Philippines, we could have presented a very good game, there are many talents in our girls, but what do you expect when there are no facilities available? I personally love football. I really like to play football, but believe me, where I live, there is not even a simple hall and field for playing!

@@h9o1_ It's not about facilities and funding. It's about respect for your own team & your opposition team. The Philippines women's football team is still underfunded and even though their facilities might be better than the Iranian women's football team, what they were able to show is great sportsmanship. They lost 8-0 but they all worked hard until the end. They defended as best as they could while the Iranian only had 1 purpose from the beginning. To ruin the game with whatever means. It's ridiculous to see all the fake injuries, the constant diving, the constant stopping. If that was how they were trained and with that sort of mentality, even if they got large funding with amazing facilities they'd still go nowhere

Women in Iran don't have the same rights and support as women in other countries (who STILL are not treated well either). Iran women don't have the same money, nutrition guidance, recovery guidance, play experience, and exposure to the game as Philippines women do. Iran women would be fatiguing faster, cramping more, getting more hurt by collisions because they don't have the muscle mass to protect them and aren't used to the level of play. What makes you think they were faking? That's how a lower level team would play against full time professionals. They'd be slower and hurt more.
@zyaravie911

@@AlphabetCookie nothing to justify what Iranian ladies did. It was an embarrassment to their own team if anything. Everyone who's been watching football knows what Iran did the other day was mostly fake. Watch North Korea women's football team. They're being starved more than Iranians. They're one of the most starved nations in the world. They have much less freedom, much more oppressed yet did they do what Iran did? No. It's called professionalism and sportsmanship. Funny in the game that they were winning, they didn't do these things. Suddenly in the games where they were losing, they were miraculously so fragile that a bit of touch caused them to roll 5x to the left, then roll 4x to the right

After the disappointing way Iran approached their game and the falling down injured every two minutes, the Philippines showed a much better attitude although tactically they got it wrong. A fantastic performance from the Matildas and soooo good to see Clare Wheeler score her first goal. She really does need to be a regular starter in place of Gorry who would be more useful coming off the bench.

Where are all the “experts” who were calling for Tony’s head because “the game plan is suspect” and “they can’t break down defences”??? They won comfortably without a worry with a second string 11 who have probably never played together before (against iran). Now he gets the A-team back together and they are relentless.
@goldboy150
@goldboy150 8 ай бұрын
@@saintsone7877 let me be clear, my criticism for the “experts” was in relation to their response to the iran game - not the end stages of the World Cup. I basically agree with your assessment of how we performed against England/sweden. What I would say though is that you criticise him for not addressing the lack of talent/dept in his two years…he can’t make world class players Australian. The talent pool is what it is. If you have specific players he ignored, didn’t include in his WC squad because he gave their positions to inferior players - I’m all ears. I don’t think that’s the case. People need to face facts. 1. We just don’t have the depth of talent that some of the better European nations do. We never have. There is no amount of first team management skill that will change that in the short to medium term. Because of this, he relied on 13-14 players who are at a high level. We just aren’t going to be able to dominate teams like England and Spain and retain possession. We don’t have the same level of quality across the pitch. Let’s not ignore though that this was by a distance our best ever performance at a World Cup, that he achieved that without the services of his best player who is the one player in Australia that would start in every other nations team and that even when we fell short against the European champions, we weren’t embarrassed. If you disagree with this, I honestly don’t know what to tell you. I don’t know what you expect from any possible manager of the Matildas. I’m not saying that this game says anything about our ability to match the best teams in the world - Like I said before, I was addressing criticism of the Iran win, not World Cup losses. However, to criticise the manager because we lost a World Cup semi final - ignoring the fact that we’d never made it that far in history and were playing one of the best teams in the world - and because we aren’t able to boss possession is ludicrous. That was never our game because we aren’t at that level. It’s like criticising Tottenham for not bossing man city in possession! Why? Man city are the best in the world at doing that - our way to beat them is not to try and hold the ball but rather soak up pressure and break fast utilising our great quality in speed up front.
@goldboy150
@goldboy150 8 ай бұрын
@@saintsone7877 agree with all that. But I’d say that Clare hunt and kyra Cooney-Cross are evidence that he is playing the long game in that regard and placed a value on getting these younger, inexperienced players an opportunity. Hunt was uncapped before he came and now she is a guaranteed starter and is playing for PSG. Cooney-Cross was a young, inexperienced understudy who wasn’t getting much of a shot and is now a guaranteed starter, the future of that midfield and playing for arsenal. Charlotte grant and teagan Micah are both on that path but still have excellent performers in front of them. Mary Fowler as well - she has only become what she has become under his watch. Vine as well. He clearly sees the potential in Nevin and wheeler too and is getting them more involved. The worry is there is no prospect of a younger Kerr anywhere. Then again, There are maybe 2 other strikers on the planet that are on kerr’s level so how realistic is it that we would ever be able to replace her. All that being said, if we all want to see Tony giving these youngsters a shot and giving them experience - we can’t all Then turn around and lament not giving iran a bath in a game we showed no prospect of actually losing despite fielding a very inexperienced outfit. Either Tony must maximise every single result no matter the opposition or context - or he must take the opportunity to get some vital experience into young players to help with our depth for the long term. Can’t be both.

Absolute disgrace by philipines bringing in all these players from overseas, what about all the young girls in the phillipines wanting to play for their country, when they look at the team 'representing them' and they see 1 phillipino woman playing! Its not only disrespectful to their own country but just embaressing that they believe winning is more important than allowing their own women to play for their country in this sport. Id rather australia lose 0 - 100 every game than our team be 99% foreign players. Honestly i believe their should be a cap of perhaps 2 foreign players per team to stop this from happening. Great win! Happy for The Matildas! BUT... This is against The Philippines... My thought is... wouldn't it be better taking the opportunity of playing games like this as a way to develop a style of play? Take it as an opportunity to work on the depth of the squad for the future? Can our younger girls or bench warmers develop and become like Foord, Kerr, Gorry and Carpenter? We know they're quality beyond the Philippines players, they'll dribble through them all day, they're faster, stronger and better technically, we know. But can we still have control of possession, a style, a philosophy, scoring chances, shots on target if those girls aren't available when playing against stronger nations? If we want to win a world cup next time, Matildas need solid depth, a philosophy of a way of playing where if those big name players aren't available against bigger nations, we can still hold ourselves and create solid chances for the win. Playing in a pattern like today against Japan, England or Spain? It'll be much harder day in the office.

They're not playing based on level here. It's based on location. It's seeing which Asian teams qualify for the Olympics.

Stupid. Any team would not improve by playing at a lower level.

This is not mens international football where South America dominates. This is women's international football. Where South America is irrelevant it's much easier for low level South American national football teams to Qualify in the Olympics than it is for the Philippines or Iran to Qualify in the AFC Asian confederation. Especially in North America it's very weak and the CAF Africa region is another weak confederation. The Philippines are just unlucky they have to face Former World Cup Champions Japan, and tough teams like China, Australia, South Korea,North Korea. If the Philippines were in South America or Africa they would qualify much easier due to the lack of opposition in these regions. In Women's football Europe and Asia are more successful and are much harder to be up and coming.

What's all the fuss about? Australia women's soccer thrashed a fledgling team from a third world country where soccer isn't all that popular anyway and every body is carrying on like they are world beaters. How about being a little humble huh?

Tbf the Philippines is a World Cup team but yea definitely not the best. But just the movement and overall quality of play by Australia shows that they had a great game and are improving. And 8-0 is a great margin on any day.

The third world has nothing to do with anything, South American countries are third world and have won World Cups in men's football. In Women's international football the AFC Asian region is a competitive and hard confederation it's hard for the national teams like the Philippines and Iran to advance any further. Unlike the weak confederation in Africa and South American in Women's football with national teams like Colombia, Argentina advancing due to lack of competition or a weak nation like Nigeria to dominate in Africa. In Women's international football Europe and Asia regions are harder for the upcoming national football teams to go further in competitions. If the Philippines joined the OFC or CAF which is Africa they would be competitive with weak national teams. At least the Philippines women national football team does their best to compete in tougher confederation I respect them for that.

@@iakadayrneh blah blah you fool; my comment was aimed at my country behaving like world beaters and celebrating a win without being humble about it. If you are pino then you should be proud of your teams effort for having a go. Read before you leap.

cause 5 or 6 days practiced only before this qualifying tournament started caused all of these players plays at different clubs around and they have new coach last month September 2 2023 fairly new. the reason why philippines beat Australia (last year AFF 2022 Australia o - Philippines 1) and New Zealand ( last world cup NZ 0-1 Philippines) is because of their Former Coach (Coach Alen Stajcic) also Former Coach of Matildas 2015 team.
