Great documentary!. But after watching this, I don't know how my banana plants are doing so well. The only thing given to them is a bag of composted manure, and all the baby plants have grown up around it. We have harvested two stalks of huge bananas and there is one that will be ready in about a month and another one that just opened up with tons of hands. The bunches are like 70lbs each and the variety is a dwarf but the top of the leaves reach between 7-10 feet tall. The stalk hangs low at about 5-6 feet and the plant grows the kind of bananas that you find in the store. If I had watched this video first I would have not tried to grow bananas. It seems like they need a lot of care. We must have about 7 plants growing together in a clump with lots of little rhizomes at the bottom. So I'm not sure why we have such great bananas. Go figure.

To grow anything at commercial scale is completely different than your gardening hobby type of growing. The farmers cannot take chances

No. The roots spread to great length horizontally for good growth.

+Amirpasha Shabestari Farmers do grow trees or bushes along the border of banana plantation to cut wind speed. Wall will be costly.

Farmers have to be careful in buying Tissue Culture Plants. Some frauds such as Farms in Hessarghatta (Owner Bharathi, Agent Sundaresh and Janardhan who was previously with Govt Tissue Culture Lab in Hulimavu) they provide bad quality Plantlets which don't flower and when some of them flower they turn out to be Dwarf Cavendish (15 Kgs) and not Genine. Buy from only well known Labs and with Genuine Bills.

Thanks for alerting other farmers. Don't you complain against them to horticulture/agriculture department and consumer forum for compensation? Teach them a lesson

@@ShramajeeviAgriFilms I believed Janardhan who had worked for the Govt Tissue Culture lab but these suppliers as it turned out they don't have a registered firm not company and whole billing and the system is fake.
