This tape was a mess and clearly recorded by a little kid, so I did the best I could.
I kept the School House Rock's because they were rad and also the end credits because there were local announcers.

17:18 The first actor seen in this Chips Ahoy commercial is Leo O'Brien, who played Richie Green in Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon in 1985 and also a street kid in New Jack City in 1991. Tragically, he passed away in 2012. The third actor seen is Scott Grimes, whose many roles include Brad Brown in the first two Critters films, Will McCorkle on Party of Five, Dr. Archie Morris on ER, starship pilot Gordon Malloy on The Orville, and will have a main role on the upcoming series Ted.

29:15 Sweet! Credits from an airing of The New Scooby Doo Mysteries! I've been a Scooby fan since the mid 1990s, and have watched the episode the credits came from probably a dozen or so times in reruns. It's kind of cool to see and hear what an original broadcast of the show was like(I was born a month later after this originally aired incidentally, on December 26, 1984).

Why do Toy Commercials Always say, “Batteries Not Included”?
@lee4hmz
@lee4hmz 5 жыл бұрын
Batteries were a lot more expensive back in the 1980s than they are now, didn't last as long, and zinc-carbon batteries in particular had (and still have) a bad habit of leaking and ruining anything they touch. Better battery technology and a steady supply of them from China, Indonesia and even here in the US made pack-ins less of a risk. Also, batteries are heavy, especially the C and D cells motorized toys use.

Dude , the time has gone by so fast! I graduated high school in 1979. To me it seems like it was yesterday because it was in the pre MTV days when people bought record albums because of the artwork. No internet in those days , cable TV was popular. If you owned a VCR you were blessed. TV movies were events. Check out these TV movies from 1979: C.S. Lewis's The Lion ", The Witch and The Wardrobe." " The Cracker Factory "starring Natalie Wood and "Dummy" starring Lavar Burton. I haven't seen these movies in 40 years until I found them again on youtube. Popular TV shows were "Happy Days", "Laverne and Shirley" , "Mork and Mindy" "Good Times " , "MASH" "Alice" "The White Shadow , "Different Strokes" and "The Facts of Life". Good music "Cruising" by Smokey Robinson , "Gold" by John Stewart , " What a Fool Believes " by the Doobie Brothers.Check out Billboard's 1979 in music list. The movies, "Kramer Vs. Kramer starring Dustin Hoffman , "Alien" starring Signeoury Weaver and the movie that upset a lot of adults . The Warriors". You have to go to Wikipedia to check out major sports events such as the Superbowl and the world series etc. I forgot about sports😳. In those days we carried change in our parents to call them on a payphone (!) We didn't have cellphone's in those days and we had to check in every so often. The major breaking news events in those days was the takeover of the US embassy in Teheren , Iran. The american hostages were held captive by Iranian " students" for 444 days. The Iranian's accused the US in meddling in it's internal affairs. In 1954 , the CIA reinstalled the Shah of Iran back on his throne after he was overthrown in a coup. He became a US ally in the Middle East. In 1979 , the Shah was overthrown again and he fled Iran. Th e Iranian "students" demanded that the US turn the Shah over to the "students" because they wanted to put him on trial. The US government refused and the "students" kept the American hostages for over a year. In 1979 , we still suffered from " the Vietnam syndrome" and didn't want to commit US troops abroad. Many people wanted President Jimmy Carter to send waves of B-52's to bomb Iran. President Carter refused to send the B-52s. He tried to use diplomacy to gain the release of the hostages. It didn't work. For over a year the US hostages were in the media. TV news reported each day the hostages were held captive. The story was on TV , the radio and newspapers. Ronald Reagan was elected president in 1980 because. President Carter was seen as a weak leader. Just think: the world might have been different today had Carter let th Air Force drop two or three nukes on Tehren , Iran.
