Correction, I've just learnt that grabs would work against kai since he isn't technically a boss but just a super overleveled NPC, however calvus rarely uses grabs so I highly doubt it would change the win rate Kai would have against calvus by very much, but it might. (thanks Leo russo for the information)

with grabs on bosses it's a bit more than just "they don't work" they do deal damage if they connect, but they don't do the grab animation

Aimsell if you want to do a real boss fight you can grab the fire mage quest at ravenna and go to carina and the npcs get confused and fight eachother (if you do it right)

you might be able to move kai to calvus by putting him on a boat and trying to dodge his attacks all the way to ravenna, or he just despawns when he leaves silverhold

@@po3794 there is a quest in Rasna where you fight a fire mage in the Shining Plains, some people have found out that you can have that fire mage fight Carina, so it might just be possible in the aspect of targetting

Lore wise, I think Kai wins. Game wise? Probably calvus, since npcs dont dodge like players calvus' 20 blast attack would obliterate Kai hp

Bro Calvus wins Lore wise, he fucking blitzed Neviro with his Aether magic, Calvus would just keep teleporting away from Kai's attacks and spam his 75 damage blasts. And Calvus was probably sitting on that throne for hours waiting for the player character to enter the throne room, but he was still able to just casually get up and blitz someone.

Calvus can block mid attack for some reason so idk if 700 dmg from fron doing one blast

that is true, however it isn't always guaranteed and the damage outcome will still be significantly higher than 150 damage from calvus regardless

@@xanthiusdrake2775 calvus is the (dead) king of ravenna, which you can only get if you are in the caesar family and there were only 3 kings in ravenna so far, a bit like the admirals and if there are about 20 commodores kai would be ranked below calvus

in my opinion argos in his prime could easily 1v2 both of these guys considering that while he's about 80 years old he can tank the entire roof of fort talos falling on him and can still easily talk as though 20 metric tons of stone aren't currently crushing his lower half again this is at 80 years old.

Considering that Argos was the strongest general of the previous generation for a very long time, I would expect him to actually 1v2 Calvus and Kai. He was heavily weakened due to age after all, If we fought Calvus in his prime and won with barely any injuries(You legit walk like nothing happened after the Calvus fight), then I'd expect that we are pancakes if we were to fight Argos in his prime.

rear admirals would be way stronger if the level difference between commanders and commodores are 70+ and majors to commanders only 20+ so rear admirals might be 400 and vice admirals 550 but just my theory lol

i cant imagine how bad the navy in nimbus sea and further are gonna be. I only had 1 notoriety and they sent out a lietenant with 3.5k hp, BOTH ultimate art magic and cannon fist, glass magic, and like average 250-300 damage attacks and insane grabs that grabbed me far away. I did beat him, but had to use the scummy metamage strat of just runnning away and spamming blasts

I honestly love the idea of comparing the might of not two players, but two actual non-player characters within the Arcane Odyssey universe/storyline. Speculating who would beat who despite them unable to actually fight each other is something I've been a fan of since my early childhood, and it brings me back to those moments when I'd play through a storyline, meet two powerful characters, and just think about who would win if they were to fight. So to speak, I enjoyed the video and hope you do more like this!

"King Calvus grabs won't work" Me landing the triasta's impaling strike/bronze musket onslaught on Kai (he's not a boss, he's just a slightly over leveled npc so you can use grabs) And yes i landed grabs on him and merlot multiple times

A few things to add: 1. The low damage by calvus is explained by Vetex and apparently he spent too much effort getting more abilities rather than making his own stronger 2. Knockback does affect bosses but the often use abilities which prevents them from taking knockback during them, I have launched Iris into the sky once 3. I have done similar analysis but instead of AO boss vs another AO boss it was AO boss vs their AA counterpart and with the exception of Kai, all of the AO versions lost

The levels aint true, calvus needs atleast 600 stat points (300 levels) for his lost magic, so i'd say hes like level 600

Grabs do work on bosses but its whole system is kinda jank. They instantly do all their damage and are harder to land. I know of this because several times me diving into the ground using piercing strikes while fighting Carina resulted in her taking 165 damage

Lore Wise, Calvus. Game Wise, Calvus( only if you dont attack him during his charge up) Kai has better burst dmg tho Though i can solo them both easily so it doesnt affect me much. Lore Wise: Calvus; Mid Diff Game Wise: Kai; High -EXT Diff

calvus with better ai dosent exist, you have to modify the whole script of calvus so he dosent spend 10 seconds charging a blast that does 150 damage and can easily be parried. calvus would be like rupin or something else if he wasnt stupid

(Typing this before watchin) I definitely think that Calvus would win but Kai would set up a good fight in return. They're pretty powerful in their own right, with one using Aether magic and one who has reached the ranks of commodore with nothing more than his trusty sabre. I tell you, if one can become a commodore with nothing for a sabre in this magic filled world, he would definitely be powerful. I think calvus would win: He can fly around at insane speeds The grab move WOULD work since Kai is not a boss but an over lvl NPC Calvus also flys in the sky and uses a move if he flys up too high and uses the one shot move, Kai gets half of his hp erased. The only chance I see of Kai winning is calvus using a move that he can’t move in and Kai going ape shit in him

Thing with Kai is that his moves are predictable, as well as Calvus. Merlot on the other hand, has unpredictable attacks and can possibly dodge their attacks with his 'E' skill on his dagger and claws. Only downside to him is his lower hp.

kai is like 10 times harder he deals 1/10 of calvus's hp each hit while calvus has his occassional big nuke that rarely lands if you consider bosses have autoparry

Vetes confirmed that Calvus is a Savant, one of the worst classes in the game. He said that Calvus is "avergae" in every stat. Can't wait for Nimbus Sea bosses...... Also, since Aether is a light based magic, it probably has "below average" damage.

i think commodore kai is actually part of the order of aesir. It makes sense, we know with lord elius they kill anyone who failed their job which makes sense with one of the lines kai says "kill me now, or THEY will" ofc that isn't accuracte but its close. It also makes sense cuz ravenna and grand navy have close ties, commodore kai might be working with ravenna which is working with order of aesir

Not to mention that when you go there before you fight Argos you can see Iris telling you that the Navy never spotted any mysterious ships sailing, which means that they must've erased their records.

I mean, of COURSE Commodore Kai would win. With a little bit of knowledge and experience, any level 100 could defeat Calvus with ease. Now, think of a Nimbus Sea veteran level 300 doing it... yeah, not looking good for the Ravenna King.

Kai doesn't dodge, Calvus would use his 400-damage grab move and spam it lmao, and Calvus could move-stack so he'd use his General Argos-inspired-300-damage AOE attack while using his 75-damage blasts.
