I use a Backflip handle for hand work nowadays too. Either that, or a short Ledger. The reduced stress that the extra leverage makes possible makes all the difference after 8 hours at the local business park. Seriously.
@dragodons
@dragodons 7 жыл бұрын
Good informative video but the most important aspect of any technique is the base angle or the distance the handle is from the glass. The angle of the channel in relation to the handle determines how close or how far your handle is from the glass. Once this is understood maintaining that distance consistently is everything regardless of how your wrist swivels... and then you can easily miss and go back to any spot on the window and can even start in the middle , left, top, side or corner.

Thank you for your time and this video! I have a huge glass wall in my room, that sun shines through all day every day, and any dirt or dust is very visible on my windows. I used a spray and a towel and it always leaves marks. Will get a squeegee tomorrow. Thanks again!

So fanning in one motion like your doing down the window prevents you from having to do the initial top and left wipe of the edge before doing the lateral pulls for the more beginner window cleaner. And now that your done fanning this window do you detail it for any remaining water?

I have hard time doing the fanning method cause it is hard on my wrist. I can only do the cut and straight swipes. I use real sponges for wiping my squeegee and frames and also use T.S.P. instead of soap. It's old school style but I work for a family run business that's been doing it this way since 1960.

Any dish soap is fine as it acts like a natural lubricant for your squeegee. If your techniques good, you won't have any issues. I personally use a small cut down six inch for a great deal of my res work as its very manuverable in my fingers. Also means I can do the annoying georgian type pains without switching or using microfibres. For commercial work, mainly a twelve on a pole. There are basic techniques but everyone's different in what they prefer. :)

+Trevor think of half horizontal figure of e ights. dont worry about keeping the water tidy unless indoors. just mop and edge at the end. also get the smaller handle squeegee. hard to explain without showing. but your technique seems sound so just keep the thumb on the top right/left of the handle. and also the smaller the squeegee the quicker. ive been doing since i was 16 so ive had plenty of time to be fast. if your business is not majority window cleaning then get someone in to do the windows only. their speed will make you more money :) good luck dude.
@steverogers2720

the trick is to use "Soft Hands" pressing hard will prevent you from fanning, helps if the soap you use has a slipperiness to it...besides that it's practice practice practice
